ADVENTURE TREK IN WESTERN HIMALAYA (**)
The Western Himalayan region has a healthy environment which is conducive for human development, particularly children and young people. Adventure activities contribute to building discipline, mental co-ordination, team spirit, and physical development. There are also many opportunities to explore a rich culture, together with its architecture and ancient temples. Most people in the region are farmers and orchardists, with apple being the dominant fruit grown here. People here tend to be gentle and hospitable. While Hinduism is the main religion, there are a minority of Buddhists from neighbouring districts and from Tibet.

Adventure activities: Exploration, Trekking, Monkey crawling, Jhumaring, Snow walk and Skiing in spring, Peak climbing expeditions, Jungle craft, Burma bridge, Rock climbing, Rappelling, and River crossing.

Region: Kullu, Manali
Season: March to November
Duration: 11 days (8 days of treks and activities)
Difficulty: Moderate

Day 01: Arrival in Manali (2000m).
Transfer to Hotel.

Day 02: Explore Manali.
Half day sightseeing includes a visit to the Hadimba Devi Temple, Manu Temple, Tibetan Monastery, Vashisht Temple and hot spring. Overnight in hotel.

Day 03: Manali to Solang (2480m/4 hrs).
Explore village life. The trek today will go through several villages, apple orchards and cultivated fields. You will visit Hindu temples and see ancient architecture. Reach Solang Valley, a winter ski resort as well as summer paradise, in the afternoon. Overnight in camp.

Day 04: Solang to Dhundi (2800m/2.30 hrs).
Adventure activities, such as Monkey crawling, River crossing and Jumarring. An easy trek through forest of Pine, Maple, Walnut and Silver Fir and Oak forests.

To the west of Dhundi, you will see the highest mountain peak in the Dhauladhar Range, the Hanuman Tibba (5950m). To the east are the peaks of Deo Tibba (6001m) and Indrasan (6100m). These peaks are visible in clear weather.

Day 05: Trek to Beas Kund (3950m).
A full day trek will take us through snow fields (in early season), meadows, over boulders and glaciers. After two hours of gradual gradient, the trail goes uphill for a short distance, then traverses over a glacier field to the Beas Kund. Mythology has it that Beas Rishi meditated here and wrote the epic Mahabharata. A magical place, surrounded by the peaks of Hanuman Tibba, Ladakhi, Manali, Mukerbhe, Sheti Dhar and the well known FriendshipPeak. There are cascading waterfalls and crystal-clear lake. We return to camp the same way.

Day 06: Dhundi to Shaga Dugh (2800m/5 hrs).
Learn Jungle craft and do an easy trek through verdant forest on the left bank of the river. Good area for bird watching. Black bears can sometimes be sighted here, at least their foot prints! The campsite is surrounded by oak forest in an isolated place.

Day 07: Climb to Patalsu (4470m).
It is a long and hard day, but exciting and enjoyable. Views of the entire valley and distant mountain ranges. We climb to the highest point on the trek with ice axes, ropes and seat harness. You will need to bring good trekking shoes and gaiters. By evening, we return to camp.

Day 08: Shaga Dugh to Rahla Fall (2900m/4 hrs).
Today, we do Rock climbing and Rappelling. We also go on a trek to Palchan. A short walk on the road, then off the beaten track to reach the beautiful campsite of Rahla, beside a stream.

Day 09: Full Day Activities.

Day 10: Full Day Skiing or Trek. Overnight in the same camp.
