Day 01: Leh to Stok, Trek to foot of Stok la, 3
hours. Trek.

Ten kms. drive to Stok. The starting point of trek, visit palace and its
museum, now follow the left bank of river flows from massif of Stok Kangri .
After 2 hours lave the river bed, Climb gently to, camp near the sheepfold.
Day 02: Foot of the Stokla to Yurutse over Stokla 4900 m.,6
hours. Trek. 2
From the sheepfold, long and steep
ascend to the Stokla, 3 hours ascend to the pass, other side steep descend, then
the trail goes quite flat until Rumbak. Path goes through the village and cross
the river by bridge and cross an escarpment. Go up the right bank, then the left
bank easy going and arrives in Yurutse.
Day 03: Yurutse to Skiu, over Ganda-la
(4900 m.) 6 hours. Trek. 3
From Yurutse good
path along the mountain side, then cross a small valley and zigzag steeply up to
the flat, then go along the mountain side to the Ganda la, approximately 3 hours
to the pass. Long easy descent toward Shingo, then in to splendid gorges. After
descending of about 2 hours arrive in the valley of Markha and after few hundred
km. further reach to beautiful campsite of Skiu.
Day 04:
Skiu to Markha, 7 hours. Trek. 4
Nice path
on the right bank of the Markha, a great deal of the vegetation. Then on the left
bank cross a barren plan, go back on to the right bank and arrive in Chaluk (few
houses). Cross the river and walk along the left bank; another crossing and then
short climb towards the beautiful village of Markha. Campsite near the river.
Day 05: Markha to Tchatchutse, 6 hours. Trek. 5
The trail goes up to the main valley on the right bank,
and sometime path is difficult in the riverbed. Visit the monastery of Humlung,
then along the right bank and arrive in Hankar village. A bit beyond Hankar, leave
a broad valley on the right hand side. The valley is narrow and goes higher, cross
the bridge on to the left bank to reach the pasture of Tchatchutse.
Day 06:
Tchatchutse to Nimaling, 4 hours. (4700 m). Trek. 6
The trail is gradual, several small inclines, the river is rather far to the left
(gorge) continue near a small lake, then cross the pasture to the Nimaling. This
is a one of the most beautiful high valley in the Ladakh dominated by the
KongYatse (6400 m.). Several fairly difficult routes leads to the summit.
Day 07: Nimaling to Shang, over Kongmarula (5150 m.), 8 hours.
Trek. 7 Crossing the Markha valley by zigzag ascend of about 2 hours to
the panoramic Kongmaru-la, then zigzag descend to the other side of the base of
Kangmaru-la. The trail goes through the gorgeous riverbed and descend make
difficulty for the horses, several time river crossing and arrive in Shang.
Beautiful camp in groves. One can visit a small gompa out of the village.
Day 08: Shang to Leh, 60 kms.
Vehicle will pick you for further visit till Leh, on the way visit the famous
monasteries of Hemis, Thiksey and Shey, drop at your hotel, end of service:
