Off the Beaten Track (***)
This
is one of the most tough trek leads from Parvati valley in
Kullu valley
to Pin valley in Spiti, Trail leads from Manikarn a pilgrimage
site for
bothHindu and Sikh, passing some of villages, forest, alpine meadows,
mountain lake and glacier both side of the pass to Mud village, at the
end
of trek you will explore the remote spiti valley and its
monasteries, Drive
back by Chandra valley to Manali and further travel
to Delhi. Highest point is
Pin Parvati pass(5219 m.) Required good
physic.

DAY
01:
Arrival Delhi, Reception in air port,
transfer to the hotel, O/N in hotel.
DAY 02: Delhi to Manali (2000 m) 570 kms.
16 hours, by night tourist bus.
Full day sight
seen in Delhi, evening transfer to bus station, night incomfortable bus.
DAY 03: Manali:
Morning
reached Manali, check in hotel,
Visit old Manali, Hadimba temple, Shiva
temple and
monastery in town are main attraction, afternoon free in
town, Night in hotel.
DAY 04: Manali to Manikaran (1800 m.) via Nagar, 90 kms.
Visit
Nagar castle, temple of Tripura sundri and
the art gallery of the
famous Russian painter Roerich..
Manikaran is famous for its hot spring,
as well for the
pilgrimage for both Hindu and Sikh community. O/N in
hotel.
DAY 05:
Manikaran to Pulga (2400 m) 6 to hours Trek
First
day of trek starts by road, Begin trek from
lower altitude is
advised to get acclimatize, Walk through
thick pine forest and passing
by villages. A steep
climb of some three hundred meters, get you to
the
beautiful village of Pulga. Camp is set nearby the forest rest
house, there is time to wonder around the village.
DAY 06: Pulga to Kheer Ganga (2900 m) 7 hours
Trek
Today
start
early, as it is a long gradual walk, the last stretch which
involves a long ascent through a pine forest, and gorgeous water fall;
camp site is near the village. You can have a dip in hot sulfur water
nearby the camp.
DAY 07: Kheerganga to Tundabhuj (3500 m) 6.30 hours Trek
There
are two trails from there, the
trekkers use the lower one, which goes
through the fields
of wild flowers. The campsite is the most
picturesque, with
five lovely waterfalls, beautiful gorges on one side,
huge cliffs and the stream on other side.
DAY 08: Tundabhuj to Thakurkuan (3900 m) 7 hours Trek
The
trail is difficult at two points,
and through a profusion of wild
flowers, iris, buttercups,
poppies, phulumises and other several
varieties. As you
gain altitude, the scenery gets prettier. After the
initial ascend cross the Pandu bridge, which consists of two huge rocks
over the river. Many shepherds with their flocks are encountered on the
route. By evening reached at the campsite.
DAY 09: Thakurkuan to Mantalai ( 4100
m)5 to 6 hours Trek
Continue
walking gradually upstream on the left bank of Parvati river. Mantalai
is a big meadow with a lake and glacier, which is the source of the
Parvati river . Just about one hour before Mantalai, the walk is
fairly
difficult over boulders and glacier.
DAY 10: Mantalai to Base camp (4700 m)
7 hours Trek
After
leaving the beautiful campsite, cross two streams. After a one-hour
walk on boulders and glacier, start climb towards the left in to a steep
side valley. This is a very long, steep ascend of around
1600 feet,
taking. The walk to the campsite is gradual, and
is set in the open
valley surrounded by massive of
glaciers.
DAY 11:
Base to Base (4750 m) over Pin Parvati pass (5219 m) 8 hours Trek
Its
long day so early start is advised, the gradual
walk is initially
mostly on the boulders then on glacier to
the top of the pass. After
crossing the pass entered in Spiti
valley, the trail descends over the
snow and ice
field, covered crevasses (hidden crevasses) and then again
loose rocks and boulders. There is no trail visible, you have to be very
careful. campsite situated in the center ofnbsp; three valleys.
DAY 12: Base to Wichkurung
thatch (3900 m) 6 hours Trek
Again
the trail is not well defined, but you should keep on the left bank of
the Pin river. Shepherds from Kinnaur and Rampur can be
seen with their
flocks. Beautiful view of mountain from
the camp.
DAY 13:
Wichkurung Thatch to Mud (3600 m) 6 to 7 hour Treks
The
Pin valley is at its best. The trail gets better though
you have to
cross streams; so keep your sneakers in
your day pack. Edelweiss, and
other flowers can be seen
in plenty. Changing color of the mountain is
unique and
in the evening sunlight makes the surrounding even more
beautiful. Reached the small picturesque village of Mud, stroll around
the little village, and gompa is set on a small hill.
DAY 14: Mud to Guling, or Schiing< (3000 m.)
4 hours Trek
This
is
also a pleasant walk, gradual at the beginning and then a small
ascend for about an hour to the village of Sagnam. and later reached at
Guling, end of the trek, vehicle will pick you for further visit in
Spiti. Visit monastery of Kungri which is the main centre of the
Nyingmapa sect in Spiti campsite at Guling or if time
permit further
drive to Schiling.
DAY15: Drive to Tabo (3550 m) and
Dhankar
The
Tabo gompa founded
in 996 A.D has exquisite frescoes and stuco statues
and is often called the Ajanta of the Himalayas. Dhankar the ancient
capital of Spiti king , the most incredibly situated gompa perched high
on the barren rocky mountain slopes. Later continue to
Kaza. It is Spiti
divisional headquarter. O/N in the
camp.
DAY 16: Drive
to Kye and Kibber, (4200mtrs) back to Kaza.
Leave
to visit the famous Kye gompa perched high on a
pyramid like mountain,
belongs to the Gelugpa sect of
Tibetan Buddhism.Kibber one of the
highest permanant
inhabited village located in a semi bowl-shaped. A
small
gompa is worth to visit, later return to the camp near Kaza.
DAY 17: Kaza to Manali, 190 kms
Drive
through several villages of Spiti
over Kunzum pass, (4700m.) having
view of magnificent
Himalayan Peaks, drive through Chandra valley,
uphill
drive to Rohtang pass (3950mtrs) the gate way of Lahooul-Spiti
and Kullu Descend to Manali, O/N in hotel.
DAY 18: Manali to Delhi: 16 hours, 570 kms.
Free Morning, afternoon ransfer to bus station, by evening bus to Delhi,
night in bus.
DAY19:
Arrive Delhi,
Transfer to hotel, day at leisure,
O/N in hotel.
