DAY 01: Arrival
Delhi
Reception in air port, transfer to the
hotel, O/N in hotel.
DAY 02: Delhi to Manali (2000 m) 570 kms. 16 hours, by night tourist
bus.
Full day sight seen in Delhi, evening
transfer to bus station, night in comfortable bus.
DAY 03: Manali
Morning
reached Manali, check in hotel, Visit old Manali,
Hadimba temple, Shiva
temple and monastery in town are
main attraction, afternoon free in
town, Night in hotel.
DAY 04: Manali to
Lossar (4050 m.) 6 to 7 hours.
Drive
upstream along the true left bank through the several villages to
Rohtang pass (3950 m) Follow the rough road towards the east in Chandra
valley. Drive to the Kunzum pass (4700 m.) which offer
extensive view of
C.B. range, descend for next 11 km to the
first campsite before Lossar
village. O/N Camp.
DAY 05: Lossar to Kaza
(3650 m.)50 km.
After
breakfast visit gompa of Lossar and the village. Passing through
several villages, reach Rangrik. Visit the famous Kye is a beautiful
gompa perched high on a pyramid like mountain, belongs to the Gelugpa
sect of Tibetan Buddhism, and Kibber 4200 m. one of the highest
permanent inhabited village in the world, Return to the
camp near Kaza,
O/N Camp
KYE MONASTERY :
The Gelugpa de Kye monastery is perched on a pyramidal rock peak, which
shelters approximately 200 monks. The mural paintings of Dukhang are
very well preserved as well as certain tangkas painting the life
of the
founder of the sect Guru Padmasambhava. In this
active and important
monastery took place a ceremony of
Kalachakra in 2000 in the presence of
the Dalai Lama.
KIBBER
VILLAGE :
The village of Kibber is
considered as being the highest village of the
world
accessible by the road …… reputation which it will soon be
necessary to leave for the benefit of his neighbor Gete ! Kibber has a
population of some 220 souls, most farmers of barley,
wheat and peas.
The visit of the monastery at the top of
the hill is interesting, in
particular that of the
ancient rooms.
DAY 06: Kaza to Mikim (Sagnam via Dhankar) 7 hours drive.
After
early breakfast drive to Dhankar the
ancient capital of the Spiti king,
the most incredibly
situated gompa, perched high on the barren rocky
mountain
slopes. Enter in Pin valley known to be full of wild life:
Gungri is the main centre of the Nyingmapa sect in Spiti. O/N Camp.
DHANKAR GOMPA :
Although damaged, the gompa of the 6th century shelters from
magnificent tangkas and statues locked into dark rooms. A part of the
monastery was regrettably annulled during particularly rough
winter,
1989, and the restorations equal not at all the
valuable frescoes which
disappeared.
KUNGRI MONASTERY :
This monastery according to the legend has been created by Guru
Padmasambhava. Contrary to the compact architecture of the
Tibetan
monasteries generally where temples and apartments
are in the same
buildings, the monastery of Kungri is
constituted by a continuation of
rectangular blocks with on
the highest terrace Lha-khang, followed in
the North by
Samdrup-ChoLing in the middle, the architecture of which is
typical of the period of Rinchen Zangpo and finally a compact structure
in the South is understanding Tangur and Gongkhang, more recent, of
Tibetan influence.
DAY 07: Sagnam to Tilling (3500m) 4 to 5 hours. Trek.
Hill
walk through rocky terrain
to left offer wonderful view of the pin
valley bellow and
Khar and Sangnam villages. The trek along the high
banks of
the river for a couple of hours, going over rocky land, meadows
and cultivated fields up to the village of Tiling, which lies at the
confluence of the Kuokli Gad, a side stream, and the Pin river, O/N in
camp.
DAY 08: Tiling to Mud Purkha (3600m) to 5 hours. Trek
The
trail follows the Pin river for a while, before a
short steep climb
through scree, followed by a gradual climb
up the hill side and along
vast meadows covered with a great
variety of mountain flowers and
berries. The village of
Mud lies across the Pin River. The village gompa
is set
impressively on a cliff between two streams. O/N camp.
DAY 09: Mud Purko to Base of Bhaba Pass (4400m)
5 to 6 hours. Trek
The
day begins with a gradual climb, followed by a steep ascent on scree
rubble, few hours below the Bhaba pass. Campsite is set on the opposite
bank of the stream. O/N Camp.
DAY 10: Base to Podal Thatch over Bhaba pass
(4890m) 6 to 7 hours. Trek
The
trail is rugged most of the day, walking over moraine and scree,
boulder fields and a final push through the snowfields to the top. After
crossing the pass, a steep descent to the campsite on bank of Bhaba
river. The vast grass pastures attract the shepherds from Kinnaur,
who
bring their flocks of sheep and goats to graze
here . camp.
DAY 11:
Podal Thatch to Mare ( 3500m ) 5 to 6 hours. Trek
Start
with a gradual descent down to the valley; the
trail widens as you
reach at the junction of two
streams; cross the stream that you have
been follow from
the campsite. Keeping this stream to your left,
continue
till you reach the valley floor which is usually covered by
wild flowers during Aug and early Sep. Campsite is set on a beautiful
glade amidst prime cedar forest.
DAY 12: Mare to Kafnu - Sarahan (1920 m) 3 to 4 hours.
Trek
Descent
through an
incredible mixed cedar forest till you reach to the Kafnu
village, where transport awaits you for the drive to Sarahan, the summer
capital of the Rampur. Bushahr. The Bhima Kali temple is a big
attraction and one gets magnificent view s of the Shirkhand peaks.
DAY 13: Sarahan to
Shimla via Rampur ( 924m) 192 km. 7 to 8 hours.
Rampur
is the erstwhile Himalayan Kingdom of Rampur
Bushahr and offers a rare
insight into customs, religion,
art and architecture of its people.
Shimla is
magnificently robed in dense forest of Oak, Pine, Fir and
Rhododendron. O/N in hotel.
DAY 14: Shimla
Ancients
capital of British Raj, presently state capital and an important tourist
destination, Visit hanuman Temple ( Monkey God, Museum, Advance study
hall, evening stroll on the mall.
DAY 15: Shimla to Delhi by train, 470 km. O/N
in hotel.
Arrive
in Delhi,
transfer to hotel, visit Bhai Temple, Humaun Tomb, after
lunch free visit evening transfer to international airport for onward
flight.
DAY 16: Departure
Full day sight seen,
Evening transfer to international air port, flight to onward Destination.
