FROZEN RIVER - CHADAR ROUTE

This trek follows the ancient trade route between Zanskar and the outside world. When the passes close with snow in winter, this frozen Chadar river is the route used by the local people to take their children to school in Leh or visit sacred places in Ladakh. The trail follows the frozen and semi-frozen river surface and over ice and rock. Experienced porters lead the way, carrying all the gear. Exploring this remote part of the planet in winter leaves you a lifetime of memories. You will need a sense of humor, mental flexibility and physical endurance to join this expedition.

A three-hour drive takes you west of Leh to Chilling, where the adventure starts. Porters pack all the baggage and begin the 2 to 3 hours walk to our first camp.
