LAMAYURU TO HEMIS
Lamayuru to Hemis (**)

This steady trekking allows to discover varied landscapes and protected villages of mountain. The trail begins in majestic site of Lamayuru, where from we leave to the ascent of passes allowing to reach the valley of Markha, On the way we will visit the silversmiths village of Chilling and will cross the Zanskar river by a cable. The path goes through isolated villages and oasis dominated by the snowy mountains as Stok Kangri and Kang Yatse (6400 m). A pass of 5150 m will allow us to join the monastery of Hémis, on the Indus valley. Further drive to Leh by visiting the some of prominent monasteries.

DAY 01: Arrival Delhi,
Reception in air port, transfer to hotel, O/N in hotel

DAY 02: Delhi–Leh: (3500 m). hotel.
Transfer to domestic air port, flight to Leh. Transfer to hotel, Afternoon Visit monastery in the town, Shanti stupa and old fort of Leh.

DAY 03: Drive to Lamayuru (3600 m),
Via Phyang and Alchi. About 17O kms.

DAY 04: Lamayuru to Wanla over Prinkitila ( 3800 m.) 5 hours. Trek 1
Attend morning ceremony in monastery, passingt few houses and farms, gradual ascend over Printikla (4800 m) through narrow gorge, arrive at Shilla, further crossing the bridge reached at Wanla.

DAY 05: Wanla to Hinju, 4 hours. Trek 2
Now follow the Yapola river on the left and after 2 hours arrive at Penjila. Continue up to the valley, leading off at right angles, after one hour Trekking leave the valley on the left, and after one hour arrives at Hinju.

DAY 06: Hinju to Sumda (over Konzke la 4950 m.) 7 hours. Trek 3
Trail goes through Hinju village, steep climb till pass. After descending reached at pasture. Before Sumda there is a blocked cave, so many nice campsites at the edge of the river, but continue along the left bank along the mountainside till Sumda.

DAY 07: Sumda to Base of Dundunchenla, (4200 mtrs) 3 hours. Trek 4
This is short day to reduce a long exhausted trek between Sumda to Chilling. A short Steep trail for 1.30 hours. and than gradual walk till the campsite at base of pass.

DAY 08: Base to Chilling over Dundunchenla (4700 m.) 6 hours. Trek 5
2 hours trek till the pass, After descending the pass south side, slope is steep and continue towards a narrow valley, in the end it opens out at Chilling. Chilling is a village of craftsmen, here Peoples work with metals like copper, tin, silver and make ladles, Tchang pots, tea pots etc.

DAY 09: Chiling to Sakaya, Skiu (3850 m.). 4:30 hours. Trek 6
From Chilling follow the Zanskar river upstream for fewhundred mtrs. To get other side is only one option by cable, Cross the river than take a good path till Skaya.

DAY 10: Skiu to Markha, 7 hours. Trek 7
Nice path on the right bank of Markha, a great deal of the vegetation. Then on the left bank cross a barren plan, go back on to the right bank and arrive in Chaluk ( few houses ). Crossing the rivers then short climb towards the beautiful village of Markha. Campsite near the river.

DAY 11: Markha to Tchatchutse, 6 hours. Trek 8
The trail goes up to the main valley on the right bank, Visit the monastery of Humlung, then along the right bank arrive Hankar village. Leave a broad valley on the right hand side. The valley is narrow and goes higher, cross abridge on to the left bank to reach the pasture of Tchatchutse.

DAY 12: Tchatchutse to Nimaling, 3 hours. ( 4700 m). Trek 9
The trail is gradual, several small inclines, the river is rather far to the left (gorge) continue near a small lake, then cross the pasture to the Nimaling. This is a one of the most beautiful high valley in the Ladakh dominated by the KongYatse (6400 m.).

DAY 13: Nimaling to Shang (3640 m), over Kongmarula (5150 m.), 8 hours. End of trek 10
By zigzag ascend of about 2 hours reach at the panoramic Kongmaru-la, Steep descend till Chuskirmo, gorgeous riverbed, colourful rocky path leads to a Shang. Beautiful camp in groves. Visit a small gompa out of the village.

DAY 14: Shang to Leh, 60 kms.
Vehicle will pick you for further visit till Leh via biggest monastery of Hemis, Thiksey monastery, Shey palace, O/N in hotel.

DAY 15: Leh–Delhi flight,
Transfer to the domestic air port, flight to Delhi. Transfer from airport to hotel, afternoon at leisure. O/N in hotel.

DAY 16: Departure:
Visit old or new Delhi (Full day sight seeing). evening transfer to International airport for Flight to onward destination.
