NANDA DEVI AND MILAM GLACIER

From Badrinath to Gangotri (****) Off the Beaten track

As nearby Gharwal, Kumaon is directly on the main axis of the chain of Big Himalaya. Oriental ramparts of Nanda Devi (25,645 feet), by way of Nanda Kot and the summits of Panchchuli, you will meet finally the Nepalese summits along the throat of Mahakali, Big Himalaya which rises since the fields of the plains of Uttar Pradesh, and the turbulent and named well torrent Goriganga resulting from the glacier Milam. The Journey will begin of Delhi with the road of Almora, the summer station of the region Kumaun: it is here that will be made the licences enter the region of Nanda devi. the hike will begin to Munsiyari, the second most big city of this region: the path which crosses several villages of the tribe Bhotia, was formerly an important commercial road with the Tibet. Diversion towards Nanda Devi East's base camp, return to Martoli. Then, you will continue your hike towards the last village Milam, located right by the glacier of mountains Trishuli and Kohali. You will enjoy several panoramic points of view on mountains, as well as on face is of Nanda Devi. From these same points of view, you will appreciate as well the profusion of a flora and a unique fauna as the beauty of a still protected landscape.

Your journey day by day :

DAY 01:- Arrive in Delhi,
Reception in airport, transfer to hotel. night in hotel.

DAY 02:- Almora-355 KMS, hotel.
Early morning drive to Almora , late afternoon check in hotel, later visit Almora ,. From the Almora town one can see the magnificent Himalyan ranges in the north with the peaks of Trishul, Nanda Devi and Nanda Kot standing tall in proud splendor.

DAY 03:- Almora to Munsiyari (2290 Mtrs) 192 KMS, Camp or Lodge.
After breakfast continue drive to Munsiyar, You will start trek from here. Over night at Camp or Lodge.

DAY 04:- Munsiyari - Lilam (2200 M): Trek 1
In the morning, we finish legal formalities. Then we start our trek to Lilam. We trek along the river through thick pine forests to reach Lilam.
Lilam is a small gathering of huts with a small camping place. We pitch our tents there. Overnight in lodge or tent.

DAY 05:- Lilam - Bugdiar (2600 M): Trek 2
Gradual ascending and some ups and downs through scenic meadows and shepherd pasture. Overnight in Tents.

DAY 06 :- Bugdiar - Martoli (3430 M): Trek 3
Milam valley get widen after Railkot Spectacular trek of around 14 km, we gradually ascend via village Reelkot 3100m., following grassy meadow to the Martoli village. Martoli has very old history as people used to trade with Tibet in olden time before border closed with Tibet in 1962, more number of people used to live and now is almost abandoned. Few houses occupied due to trekkers and climbers who may fascinated by high plateau of grassy fields. Overnight in tents

DAY 07 :- Martoli to Lwanl camp (4 hours) (3430 meters) Trek 4
At the north of village you will have beautiful view of above seven thousands meters at the head of Milam glacier and glimpse of Nanda Devi east, after 2 hours reached at camp site.

DAY 08:- Lwanl-Naspanpatti 3950 meters, towards the Nanda Devi East Base Camp, (mtrs. (6 to 7 hours) Trek 5
This is a very narrow trail as of the “goat track” high over the Lwanl gorge, one have to be very care full while traversing the numbers of narrows gullies , Reached at the shepherd meadows named Naspanpatti at the elevation of 3950 mtrs ) just below of the Nanda Devi east base camp.

DAY 09 Trek to Nanda Devi East base camp (2 hours) (4150 metres) Trek 6
A Grassy ridge leads the trail for couple of hours to the spectacular base camp, surrounded by high mountains located on the shadow of mighty Nanda Devi east Rest of the day you will spend enjoying the view of this lost horizon of Inner Himalaya

DAY 10:- At Nanda Devi base camp (4550 metres). Trek 7
You will climb higher from base camp for about 500mtrs to view the longstaff col, and other magnificent peaks form the rim of Nanda Devi sanctuary, If you are lucky enough one can spot the herd blue sheep in the pasture.

DAY 11:- Back to Lwanl (6 to 7 hours) Trek 8
Leave this hidden horizon and same way back to Lwanl.

DAY 12:- Lwanl to Milam (7 hours) 3430 mtrs. Trek 9
Same way till Martoli, now follow the well defined trail passing through Burfu village, at Milam till 1962 traders bartered their goods with Tibet. at present there are few habitant in summer.

DAY 13:- Milam Village to Milam Glacier - Milam (3926 M): Trek 10
This short and easy trail is full of scenic view and spectacular vision of high Himalayan Ranges and peaks. Spend the day at Glacier return to Milam Village & night stay. Over night in tent

DAY 14:- Milam Village to Burfu, 3350 mtsr. 8 kms. 3hrs. Trek 11
Short trek to Burfu , camp located on other side of the village on lush green meadow, excisitng view of several peaks around, After establishing
the camp, vsit the village, back to camp for overnight stay.

DAY 15:- Burfu to Pachhu (3950 mtrs.) 13 kms. 5.30 hours Trek 12
Easy gradual trek beside the river Gori Ganga, campsite is an exquisite location, The rolling High altitude rhododendron with the pink and white flowers and the fresh green birch forests make the trek an ultimate experience. We reach an open alpine meadow with varied flora and at the head of the Pachu Glacier emanating from the northern face of Nanda Devi. Overnight in the tents.

DAY 16:- Pachhu Glacier. Trek 13
Day at slow rhythm to enjoy the magnificent location, hike toward the Nanda Devi east, Night in Camp.

DAY 17:- Pachhu Glacier Martoli 17 km trek 14
Today we trek mostly downhill only the last bit is up. Martoli is one the very important destinations from the ancient Indo-Tibetan trade route. The exquisite wood carvings on old houses speak stories about how this was the commercial center once upon a time. From Martoli you also get fascinating views of the Nanda devi (East) and Nanda kot. Overnight at a village house.

DAY 18:- Martoli - Bugdyar 18 km trek. 15
Again we return towards Munsyari fairly easy downhill. Overnight in camp.

DAY 19:- Bugdyar to MUNSIYARI 14 km trek - CHAUKORI 98 kms by jeep. Trek 16.
Back to road head. We stay overnight at the guesthouse / tents.

DAY 20:- Munsiari to Nanital : 1940 mtrs.
Long drive to Nanital, on arrival check in hotel, rest time at leisure, night in hotel.

DAY 21:- Naini Tal
Nainital was founded by an European merchant Mr. P. Barron in the year 1841, A hill resort is famous not only for its natural beauty but also for it's many legends and stories., ancient temples and peaks.Stroll in the town , night in hotel.

DAY 22:- Naini Tal to Delhi, (322 km),
Early drive is advised , Lunch on the way, night in hotel at Delhi

Day 23:- Visit Delhi and Departure.
Visit Bhai temple, Humaun Tomb, after lunch, free visit, meeting time for dinner at hotel, after dinner transfer to air port for onward destination
