MONASTERIES AND ARYANS OF LADAKH
Monasteries and Aryans of Ladakh (*)

In the valley of Indus You will explore the most famous monasteries and some of fascinating site. Some are accessible by road and some by trek, The trail crosses numerous passes, its a moderate grade trek required minimum of physical fitness and the path does not rise above 4500m. You will visit the remote villages where people have still kept their Tibetan ways of customs and in Dah–Hanu the Brogpas are an Aryan race is most fascinating tribe in Indus valley, Over night stay possible in local house.

Duration :- 17 days (8 days of Trek)




DAY 01: Arrival Delhi,
Reception at air port, transfer to hotel, O/N in hotel.

DAY 02: Delhi–Leh: (3500 m ). hotel.
Transfer to domestic air port, flight to Leh. Transfer to hotel, Afternoon Visit monastery in the town, Shanti stupa and old fort of Leh.

DAY 03: Around Leh: hotel.
Full day sight-seeing to visit Shey, Thiksey, Hemis monasteries, Back to hotel,

DAY 04: Leh-Phyang (3600m) Taru (3700m) Trek 1
Leave to Phyang, We visit the monastery and continue towards Taru with a pleasant walk. A short day trek is necessary for acclimatization Camp.

DAY 05: Taru-Taru La (4200m) - Nyemo (3700m) trek 2

The trail climbs steeply towards the first pass of the trek, and descends to the Nyemo village.

DAY 06: Nyemo-Nie (3800m) trek 3
The route traverses Basgo, dominated by impressive ruined fortresses. A quite stricking succession of shortens, sanctuaries and a palace line the path.

DAY 07: Nie-Likir (3600m) trek 4
We enter an arid and bare landscape. Visit of the Likir monastery, one of the oldest in Ladakh.

DAY 08: Likir-Yangthang (3600m) trek 5
The route goes through two low passes, the Phobe La (3700m) and the Charatse La (3800m), opening to beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.

DAY 9: Yang-Thang to Hemischukpachan (3600 mtrs) 6h. Over Chermentsela (3750) trek 6
Leave to the big village of Schukpa (Cidar). Two hour,s climb to reach the pass, long descend to the village. visit Gopa a top of the village and explore the village, a beautiful camp site.

DAY 10: Hemischukpachan to Themisgam (3200 mtrs.) over Meptekla 3750 mtrs. 5.30 Trek 7
(Trail pass through flat pasature toward the Meptekla which take approx 2.30 hours till pass. descend to Ang village from here one can leads towards the Shyok valley. Next 30 minutes to Temisgam the richest valley of Ladakh Appricot, Apple and nut are plenty there, beautiful village of tea with its gompa can be visited camp.

DAY 11: Themisgam to Khaltse-Lamayuru (2995mtrs. over Bonbbongla (3850 mtrs.) 5 hours, Trek. 8
Last day of trek, leave beautiful valley and easy climb to Bonbonbla for 1.30 hours. Follow a long gentle slope to Khaltse the main high way between Leh and Srinagar. Drive to Lamayuru, guest house.

Day 12/13: Lamayuru to Dah-Hanu-71 kms.

Drive along the Indus river, afternoon reach at Dunkhar, later visit village, night in Local house/Guest house.

DROKHPA AREA: Is along the Indus river. Main villages are Dhunkar, Tirit,
Skurbuchan, Hanudo, Biama, and Dha on the road to Baltistan. Inhabitants called Drokhpa, belong to the purest Aryan race. They are tall, handsome and hospitable. Drokhpas are belived to have migrated to this area via Gilgit around thousands years ago from central Asia. They are different with a large, beautiful eyes, sharp,equiline nose. The men, women and children wear heavy metallic earrings.Most of these villages are dominated by Muslims with colorful mosques and a very few Buddhist houses with small Gompas. Stroll in Biama and 2 kms. trek to Dah, Afternoon cross the Indus to Balrase village. Leave to Dah enroute visit several villages Skurbuchan with apricot orchards ,Achinathang and Biama famous for pashmina, sheep breeding, handicrafts center. night in guest house or in family house.

DAY 14: Dah-Hanu to Leh via Alchi 140 kms.
Drive back to Leh via Alchi, the oldest monastery of Ladakh, afternoon reach Leh, rest time free at leisure, night in hotel.

DAY 15: Around Leh
Visit Stok Palace, its museum, stroll in the village and Spituk monastery, Afternoon get back and rest time at leisure, night in hotel.

DAY 16: Leh–Delhi flight,
Transfer to the domestic air port, flight to Delhi. Transfer from airport To hotel, afternoon at leisure. O/N in hotel.

DAY 17: Departure: Visit old or new Delhi
(Full day sight seeing).evening transfer to International airport for Flight to onward destination.
