ON THE FOOT PRINT OF THE NOMADES OF CHANGHANG
By this trek you will explore the region of Chang-Thang, "literally means the high altitude plateau", Home of the Nomade (Changpas) to which can be reach by passing high passes, Tukche is the nomade headquarter with its huge salt water lake of Tsokar. Further east is an another great salt water lake of Tsomoriri located at Karzok the capital of Rupshu. wildlife as Kyang, "the Tibetan wild ass" and occasionally visible snow leopard are found here including rare and exotic birds, You will explore its wilderness and grandeurs, trek end at Pang, Vehicle will pick you to Leh passing over world second highest motor able pass.

Day 01: Leh to Rumtse 4040 mtrs. 75 kms.
Leave early, On the way visit Shey- Thiksey-Hemis monasteries, further drive to the campsite.

Day 02: Rumtse to Kyamar , 40 50 mtrs.5 hours Trek 1
The first day of trek, easy trail leads to a beautiful campsite close to the spring,

Day 03: Kyamar to Tisaling 4200 m, over Kumarla and Mandachandla-6-7 hours Trek 2
As it is a long day so the early start is advised, Trail goes up following the river, gradual ascent to Kumur la 4900m, enjoy the spectacular view on the Chang-Thang range, Than steady descend to river bank, wade through river
and again ascent to the next pass Mandachandla, Now easy descend toward the campsite on pasture land of Tisaling.

Day 04: Tisaling to Tsokar (4267 mtrs) vis Shibuk over Shibukla (4980 mtrs) 6-7 hours. Trek 3
2 hours trek till the pass, again spectacular view of the surrounding Himalaya, descend to Shibuk, where Marmot can be seen playing hide and seek. Now easy flate track on the large valley to the nomade headquarter at Tukche, on arrival in Tukche, establish the camp, later visit the village and
small gompa perched high on the top of village, Stroll on the shore of lake to watch the birds and lake changing its color frequently while sun setting.

Day 05: Tsokar to Nuruchan (4300 mtrs.) 4 hours. Trek 4
Trail goes beside the lake through the plateau, kyang (WildDonkey) can be seen in herd, campsite close to nomad village.

Day 06:Nuruchan to Rachungkaru (4400mtrs.) over Horlamkongkala (4900mtrs.) 6 hours. Trek 5
Gradual walk for 1:30h to the pass, easy descend, a long walk to beautiful campsite near the stream.

Day 07: Rachungkaru to Gyama burma (4250 mtrs) over Kyamayurila (5200mtrs.) 5 hours. Trek 6
Easy climb for 2 h. to the pass, gradual descend and further easy trail leads to the campsite.

Day 08: Gyma Burma to Karzok (Tsomoriri 4573 mtrs 7 hours. Over Yalungnyaula ( 5440 mtrs) Trek 7
Long day, excellent view of the lake from the top of pass, reached at Karzok 240 kms south east of Leh, Karzok Gompa and its inhabitants the Nomades (Changpa's) are most outstanding features of this lake. circumference of this
lake is aroung 36 kms. Explore village and monastery, later stroll on the shore of lake.Visit the village and the monastery, night in camp.

DAY 09: Karzok to Kyangdam (4350 mtrs.) 7hours. Trek 8
The trail goes beside the lake, long and pleasant walk; camp beside the phertsephu river which merge in to lake.

Day 10: Kyangdam to Kunmotchey (4580 m.) 5 hours. Trek 9

The trail goes upward of the river from the south of the lake to the eastern direction. Twice easy river crossing, in beginning the valley of Phertse Phoo is very narrow with colorful rugged rocks and slowly it starts to open and soon the wide green meadow appears. After established the camp, one can visit around to be in the nature.

Day 11 : Kunmotchey to Lato (4650 m.) 5 hours. Trek 10
Easy walk through the meadow. One can meet the nomadic people, valley is getting wider than day before and beautiful camp site of Lato is visible.

Day 12: Lato to Zozang (4700 m.) 4.30 hours. Trek 11
Zozang is base of the Telaconla. Splendid campsite with view of high mountains and at far distance nomad camps.

Day13: Zozang to Pang(4600 m.)over Telakonla (4850 m.) Trek 12
Gradual ascend up to the pass and enjoy the extensive view of the barren landscape and the plateau of Pang, Quang chu thang (ground of the wild donkey). Lovely descend to the bank of Zara chhu (river); several time easy river crossing. After walking 6 hours, the last campsite of the trek is reached.

Day 14: Pang to Leh (3500m.).
After breakfast, drive to Leh over the second highest motor able pass named Tang Langla (5333 m). It takes 6 hours driving for about 150 km. Arrive in Leh. O/N in hotel.
