Day 01: Madras or Chenai
Arrive-Madras. Transfer to hotel.
Day 02: Madras/Chanai
After taking rest, visit the city to feel the atmosphere of South India. Madras has been the first capital of the British Raj. Today it is the capital of the Tamil Nadu state. You will discover St Mary church, the oldest Anglican church in Asia, and a fascinating museum, especially the bronze hall. Evening stroll on shore of Bay of Bengal on the long stretch of sandy Marina beach, that's the right place to lost in the colourful Indian ambiance. Night in hotel.
Day 03: Chenai to Mahabalipuram, via Kanchipuram 80 km
Kanchipuram is famous for its Kailash Nath temple, the first Dravidian temple and the 59 meter high Akambaranatyh temple which has been built by Pallawas from 6th to 8th century, and extended by Chollas. The most recent part of the wall has been added by Vijay Nagar 500 years ago.
Mahabalipuram is a small village on the shore of Bay of Bengal, with somptuous rock carved temples belonging to the World Patrimonial. We will discover the very huge carved relief representing Ganga descending on Earth, beautiful temples, the Rathas - big stone carved chariots. We will have a stroll in the village or late afternoon, discover the fishermen coming back from fishing. night in the hotel.
Day 04: Pondichery
A 110 km drive, 2.30 hours, will bring you to Pondichery, small and charming city on the Bengal sea. It has been the capital of the French territory until 1954. Visit of this former French territory whose culture is still intact, where you will discover the European atmosphere which remains there as well as the big Bazar typically indian. Visit Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Gandhi's mark on the see shore , discover the Bazar and Auroville ,Evening and night in hotel.
Day 05: Tanjore
From Pondichery, we drive early morning for about 4.30 hours, 180km, to reach Tanjore. One of the most brilliant dynasty of South India, the Cholas, have settled in Tanjore their capital. We will visit the large Brihadishwara temple, a master piece of the Dravidian art which belongs to the world patrimonial. This 10th century temple dedicated to Shiva is one of the rare ones which are opened to the non hindu people. Visit of the Tanjore museum, with its admirable collection of bronzes. Night in a hotel.
Day 06: Madurai
After 150km and 4.30 hours driving, we reach Madurai. It is one of the most extraordinary worship place in India, and the oldest city in Tamil Nadu. Its gigantic temple is dedicated to a female goddess Meenakshi, the goddess with fish eyes. One can get lost while visiting number of rooms and corridors, discovering the sumptuous sculptured pillars: for sure the devotion of architecture is deep and interesting. Night in hotel.

Day 7-8: Munnar
Departure to the mountains for Munnar: we drive early morning for about 5 hours, 160 km. We enter in Kerala. After 2 hours drive, discover the charming landscape of Thekdy and Periar wild life sanctuary; short stop on the sanctuary area at the bank of a lake to see by chance elephants (one have to pay entree fee). On the way, visit the biological garden of spices with a guide: we will discover many types of plants and learn how the local people are using it in cooking or Ayurvedic medicine. Afternoon, arrive at Munnar, check in hotel or small huts.
Munnar is a very green and peaceful place. The numerous tea fields on the hills around are creating a wonderful landscape, specially the women in colorful clothes working on it . We will enjoy full day to explore the region and to meet the people.
Day 9-10: Kochi
Early morning, departure to Kochi is situated between the Oman's sea and many small islands. It has been a Portuguese, then Dutch prosperous territory on the silk and spices road. It is a kind of magical place: you will walk in the old streets, visit the Saint François's church, the synagogue, the Dutch Palace, you will discover the fishermen coming back from fishing with their very huge and famous nets. In the evening, you will be able to see a Kathakhali performance (extra, in option). Night in hotel.
Day 11-12: Kerala Backwaters
Short drive to Allepey, 65 km. You will spend 2 days at the peaceful rhythm of the Kerala Backwaters, visiting the canals by boat, and stroll by foot in the villages, the rice fields and the coconut trees' plantations. Night in boat or in one family to discover the genuine Kerala culture.
Day 13-14: Day at leisure on the sea-shore
Drive to Verkhela, afternoon check in hotel. Relax on the beach of Arabian sea, You will enjoy spending two days in this magical place, a small traditional villages to enjoy the small walks, farniente and baths, discover of the rural and authentic life in Kerala. Night in hotel,
Day 15: Trivandrum
A per the flight schedule transfer to the airport and flight to onward destination.
