Trail over high passes |
During the month of Septembre the Shepherd , ( Gaddi ) Semi Nomade of Kangra valley leads their flocks from the high altitude pasture land of Lahoul and Spiti to their home land over high passes , Trek starts from Manali through the forest of Cidar and pine ; alpine meadows covered by wild flower ‘s in summer, blue turquoise streams , over high passes and snow covered mountains , varieties of flora in abundant and occasionally visible fauna as well , varieties of birds can be seen , Himalayan beer , Musk deer and mountains goat’s has been spotted by trekkers
One day at leisure in Barabhangal to explore the life of this isolated village habinats , After crossing Thamsar pass descend to the valley of Kangra , Trek ends up in Bir and further drive to Dharamsala a capital of Tibetan government inexile where Dalailama reside
In the end you will visit Golden temple at Amritsar ( Punjab ), the capital of Sikh religion attract the pilgrimage from all over the world.
The best time for this trek is Mid Sep to mid Oct with world famous festival of Dushera takes place in Kullu , It celebrated in all our India but the best is considered that of Kullu. |

Day 1 :-Arrival Delhi, reception in air port,
transfer to the hotel, O/N in hotel.
Day 2:- Delhi to Manali ( 2000 m) (570 km -16
h), by night tourist bus.

Full day sight seen in Delhi, evening transfer to
bus station, night in comfortable bus.
Day 3 :- Manali :
Morning reached Manali, check in hotel, Visit old
Manali, Hadimba temple, Shiva temple and monastery
in town are main attraction, afternoon free in town,
Night in hotel.
Day 4 :- Manali to Lamadugh (2500 m) 5 h

The first day of the trek leads through cool forests
of giant deodars (Cedar), climbs gently through Manalsu
valley with the Manalsu torrent for company. campsite
in the lush green meadow of Lamadugh.
Day 5 :- Lamadugh to Dohra Nalla (3100 m)
over Khanpari pass (3600 m) 6 h trek 2
The trail now begins to ascend steeply through woodlands
and meadows. With wild alpine flowers strewn all around.
The brilliant shrubs of Rhododendron and Birch pave
the way to the pass after which a descent leads to
the campsite.
Day 6 :- Dohra Nalla to Sangohar, the base
of Kali Hani (3800 m) 5h30

A lovely walk through the lush forest and over the
debris of glaciers. A short ascend to the campsite.
All around the famous mountain peaks of the Kullu
and Lahoul valleys afford an unforgettable evening.
Day 7 :- Sangohar to Gaddi Gote (3600 m)
over Kalihali pass (4800 m) 8h

Today the landscape slowly begins to change, as forests
and meadows give may to rocky outcrops with patches
of snow starring to appear. A rather steep climb through
glacial debris and snow, and the top of the pass is
reached. Breath taking views envelop the crest of
the pass and after a brief stopover, descending through
glacier and moraine leads to the campsite on the bank
of the sparkling mountain stream.
Day 8 :- Gaddi Gote to Lamba Phad (3300 m)

Now the trail leads down in to the Soony river, via
Devi Gote. A small temple constructed by the shepherds
(Gaddies) for the protection of the sheep and themselves
from the natural catastrophes and the animal. Pay
the homage to the Goddess and continue to the campsite.

Day 9 :- Lamba Phad to Soony (3500 m) 5 h

Leaving this beautiful campsite, the path winds through
rocky terrain, soon replaced by meadows again. The
trail begins to ascend, a forest begins to appear,
the river rushes through spectacular gorges: as soon
as crossed via snow bridge or temporary wooden bridge,
campsite is reached.
Day 10: Soony to Bara Bhangal (2540 m)

The trail now winds its way down towards the valley
floor, after which almost level walk leads to the
camp just before the tiny ancient village of Bara
Bhangal.
Day 11 :- Visit the village:

A remote and isolated village open only four or five
months in a year. The inhabitants are the legendary
Himalayan shepherds (the Gaddies) who lead a nomadic
life, leading their vast flocks of sheep and goats
in high mountain summer pastures, and in autumn returning
back to their isolated existence in the village.
Day 12 :- Bara Bhangal base of Thamsar pass
(3500 m) 6h30

A steady climb to the camp site: the scenery changes
there quite dramatically while the air became cooler.
The cill of the evening is replaced with the comfortable
warmth of a lively campfire.
Day 13 :- Base to Panihartu (3200 m) over Thamsar pass.

Today the trail steeply emerges from the rocky and
glacial terrain in to the softer landscape. The lakes
on both side of the pass offer a spectacular view
of Dhauladhar range with mighty Manimahesh Tibba on
the north of the pass. Steep descend to the campsite
of the Pannihartu.
Day 14 :- Panihartu to Raj Gundha (2900 m)

A very pleasant walk through a leafy bridle path meadows
forest and the cascading waterfall; soon, the tiny
village makes appearance literally hanging on the
shoulders of the hill side, giving them a magical,
surrealistic appearance.
Day 15 :- Raj Gundha to Bir (2080 m) 6h

The trail goes through the forest of oak and rhododendron.
From Billing direct descend to the Bir. As the Billing
is well known for the paragliding, the participants
from all over the India as well as foreigners use
to take part in the competition. On the way extensive
view of the lush green Kangra valley are speated and
soon the steep descend ends at the tiny Tibetan settlement
of Bir. A delightful last day to this most wondrous
of the trek through the land of the legendary Gaddis,
tough and wiry Himalayan shepherds.
Day 16 :- Drive to Dharamsala
On the way visit the Tibetan settlement and the monastery
at Bir, Chamunda Devi temple in Palampur. After driving
50 km., reached at Dharamsala. O/N in the hotel.
Day 17 :- Visit Mac Leod Ganj
the residence of H.H. the Dalailama, Tibetan handicraft
centre. O/N in hotel.
Day 18 : - Dharamsala to Delhi:
Free day in Dharamsala , evening night to Delhi ,
night in bus.
Day 19 :- Arrive Delhi. Transfer
to hotel , free visit . Night transfer to international
flight to onward Destination.
