Markha Valley ( Stok To Hemis )

While trekking in  Markha valley  you will enjoy spectacular views of Ladakh and Zanskar ranges , its civilization hidden in the valleys , rich in culture  , visiting small monastery illuminated with butter lamps  . Trails wind through  willow groves and  bushes of wild roses to Nimaling plain where one can  meet nomadic families with their  herds of yaks .  Trek end at Shang  , Highest point is Kongmarula 5150 m. trek is moderate.

Day 1 :- Arrival Delhi

Trekking Stok Markha Valley

Reception in air port, transfer to hotel, O/N in hotel.

Day 2:- Delhi – Leh : (3500 m) hotel.
Transfer to domestic air port, flight to Leh. Transfer to hotel , Afternoon Acclimatization trip to monastery in the town , Shanti stupa and old fort of Leh.

Day 3 :- explore around Leh : hotel
Drive to Spituk monastery close to Leh , Phyang 13 kms west of Leh , back to hotel for lunch , afternoon at leisure.

Day 4 :- Stok to foot of Stok la, 3h                                                                       trek 1
Ten kms. drive to Stok. , visit palace and its museum , now follow the left bank of river flows from massif of Stok Kangri . After 2 hours lave the river bed , Climb gently to, camp near the sheepfold.

Day 5 :- Foot of the Stokla to Yurutse over Stokla (4900 m) 6h                   trek 2
From the sheepfold, long and steep ascend to the Stokla, 3 hours ascend to the pass, other side steep descend, then the trail goes quite flat until Rumbak. Path goes through the village and cross the river by bridge and cross an escarpment. Go up the right bank, then the left bank easy going and arrives in Yurutse.

Day 6 :-Yurutse to Skiu , over Ganda-la (4900 m) 6h                                     trek 3
From Yurutse good path along the mountain side, then cross a small valley and zigzag steeply up to the flat, then go along the mountain side to the Ganda la , approximately 3 hours to the pass. Long easy descent toward Shingo, then in to splendid gorges. After descending of about 2 hours arrive in the valley of Markha and after few hundred km. further reach to beautiful campsite of Skiu.

Day 7 :- Skiu to Markha, 7h                                                                                   trek 4

Stok Markha Valley Trek

Nice path on the right bank of the Markha, a great deal of the vegetation. Then on the left bank cross a barren plan, go back on to the right bank and arrive in Chaluk ( few houses ). Cross the river and walk along the left bank; another crossing and then short climb towards the beautiful village of Markha. Campsite near the river.

Day 8 :- Markha to Tchatchutse, 6 h             trek 5
The trail goes up to the main valley on the right bank, and sometime path is difficult in the riverbed. Visit the monastery of Humlung, then along the right bank and arrive in Hankar village. A bit beyond Hankar, leave a broad valley on the right hand side. The valley is narrow and goes higher, cross the bridge on to the left bank to reach the pasture of Tchatchutse.

Day 9 :- Tchatchutse to Nimaling, 4h  (4700 m).                                          trek 6
The trail is gradual, several small inclines, the river is rather far to the left (gorge) continue near a small lake, then cross the pasture to the Nimaling. This is a one of the most beautiful high valley in the Ladakh dominated by the Kang Yatse (6400 m). Several fairly difficult routes leads to the summit.

Day 10 :- Nimaling to Shang , over Kongmarula (5150 m), 8h                   trek 7
Crossing the Markha valley by zigzag ascend of about 2 hours to the panoramic Kongmaru-la, then zigzag descend to the other side of the base of Kangmaru-la. The trail goes through the gorgeous riverbed and descend make difficulty for the horses, several time river crossing and arrive in Shang. Beautiful camp in groves. One can visit a small gompa out of the village.

Day 11 :- Shang to Leh , 60 km                                                                         trek 8
Vehicle will pick you for further visit till Leh via biggest monastery of Hemis ,Thiksey monastery , Shey palace, O/N in hotel.

Stok Markha Valley Trek

Day 12 :- Free day in Leh , O/N in hotel.

Day 13 :- Leh –Delhi flight,
Transfer to the domestic air port, flight to Delhi. Transfer from airport to hotel, afternoon at leisure. O/N in hotel.

Day 14 :- Departure : Visit old or new Delhi (Full day sight seeing ).evening transfer to International airport for Flight to onward destination.
