ON ONE OF THE WORLD'S HIGHEST ROADS
The drive between Manali (Kulu Valley, Himachal) and Leh (Ladakh) is one of the most spectacular in the world, over several high passes, the highest being Tanglang La (5332 m). High mountains, mighty peaks, sparkling glaciers, twisting and tumbling rivers, barren slopes and plains that take on dramatic hues will accompany you on this trip of a lifetime through an exciting road that twists and turns, sometimes seeming to cling onto the mountain slopes. You will explore the area around Leh, ascending to the highest motorable pass in the world, Khardung La (5540 m). And from the predominantly Hindu culture of Kullu Valley you will see the change in culture to Tibetan Buddhism in Lahaul and Ladakh, with their many gompas (monasteries), big and small. Unique communities within the area covered by the tour include the nomadic tribe called Changpa in Changthang Plateau, and the Drokhpas or Dardin of Indus Valley, reportedly the purest Aryan race in the world.

Region: Himachal–Ladakh
Season: Jun to Sep
Duration: 10 days
