DAY 01: Arrival at Delhi
Reception in air port, transfer to the hotel, overnight stay.
DAY 02: Delhi – Leh: (3500 m)
Transfer to the domestic air port, flight to Leh. Transfer to the hotel, visit monastery of the town, Shanti stupa and old fort of Leh in the afternoon. Night in the hotel.
DAY 03: Explore around Leh
Drive to Spituk monastery close to Leh, Phyang 13 kms west of Leh , back to
hotel for lunch , afternoon at leisure.
DAY 04: Leh to Tsokar :154 kms, (4268 mtrs)
Leave early, visit Shey-Thiksey and Hemis monastery on the way. In the afternoon, continue to head over the world’s second highest motorable pass(Tanglangla (5332mtrs) to nomad headquarter at Tsokar. Explore the village and Gompa. Stroll on the shore of salt water lake in evening and night in the camp.
DAY 05: Tsokar to Nuruchan (4300 mtrs.) 5 hours. Trek- 1
Trail goes beside the lake through the plateau, kyang ( WildDonkey ) can be seen in herds, campsite close to the nomad village and night in the camp.
DAY 06: Nuruchan to Rachungkaru (4400mtrs.) over Horlamkongkala (4900 mtrs.) 6 hours. Trek-2
Gradual walk for 1 and 1/2 hrs to the pass, easy descend, a long walk to beautiful campsite near the stream, night in the camp.
DAY 07: Rachungkaru to Gyama burma (4250 mtrs) over Kyamayurila (5200mtrs.) 5 hours. Trek -3
Easy climb for 2 hrs to the pass, gradual descend and further easy trail leads to the campsite, night in the camp.
DAY 08: Gyma Burma to Karzok (Tsomoriri 4573 mtrs 7 hours. Over Yalungnyaula (5440 mtrs) Trek 4
Long day, excellent view of the lake from the top of the pass, reach Karzok 240 kms south east from Leh. Karzok Gompa and its inhabitants the Nomades (Changpa’s) are most outstanding features of this lake. Circumference of this lake is aroung 36 kms. Explore village and monastery and stroll on the shore of the lake. Visit the village and the monastery, night in the camp.
DAY 09: Karzok/ Base Camp 5/6hrs trek Trek- 5
Walk gradually to the base camp of Mentok at 5420mts, walk over undefined trail of open area high over Karzok and Tsomoriri lake, a moorland and moraine trail leads till base camp located below the Mentok 11, night in the camp.
DAY 10 to DAY 12: Climb to Mentok Kangri 11 – 6210m Or Mentok 1 -6172m
DAY 10: Summit day to Mentok Kangri II -6210m
This is a lovely peak on a long ridge running South from Korzok village on the shores of the Tso Moriri lake. In July and August the entire Korzok valley is green with wild flowers giving the peak its name ‘Mentok’.
Almost 2 to 3 hours of hike til the snow lines.Before ascending to the col ( pass ) that divide the route to Mentok 1 (6272m) and Mentok II (6210m). We may need to fix the rope to assure the safety of climbers. Make safe and easy approach to the top of the Peak. The summit is a superb reward for your effort, giving magnificent views in every direction.If weather is clear you will admire the awesome views of Tsomoriri Lake, Lungser Kangri (6666m) and Tibet to the east. We return all the way back to the base camp.
DAY 11: At base camp. ( Hike or relax at base camp )
Rest day; stroll around before attempting to the second peak.
DAY 12: Base camp to Karzok -4550m, Trek- 6
After leisurely breakfast, trek back to karzok , easy descend through moorland, boulders, and pasture land till the village.Stroll at the lake shore, one can observe the variety of birds ( subjected to season ), interact with the people of this high altitude land of Nomade ( Changpa, the nomade of Chang-Thang), night in the camp.
DAY 13: Karzok to Leh. 220 kms, 6h
Vehicle will be reporting either in morning or day before in evening. Take a rough but breath-taking drive through nomadic land of Chang-Thang till joining the Indus valley at Mahe. Follow Indus river, stop at Chuma Thang wher one can take bath in hot spring. You will reach Leh by afternoon, night in a hotel.
Day 14: Leh-Delhi flight and departure.
Flight to Delhi, check- in to the hotel at 12 noon, half day sightseeing and transfer to the airport in evening for your onward destination.
