Classic Trekking Route
A classical trekking route start through the Pir Panjal mountain range of Himalaya. From Manali you will drive by Zig-Zag uphill rough road overlooking the scenic valley till Jobri Nulla the starting point of the trek. Here onward trail pass through forest and Meadows, at the side are awesome sheer cliffs and long slopes of summer pasture lies another side of valley which are filled by verities of flora and are homes to the wild lives including elusive species.

 Middle of Hamta valley flows the river which is crossed by temporary / permanent bridges at the places, some of glaciers streams are challenges to adventurer enthusiasts and are negotiated under the supervisions of expert and experienced team leaders.

The trail sections at the place are flat and gradual till the Hampta pass (4200m) which is the gate way between Kullu and Lahoul valley. During the clear day one can enjoy the awesome view of magnificent peaks Deo-Tibba, Indraasan and Indra Kila elevating above the glacier.  Steep descend from Pass to the Shea Gahru that further leads to the Chhatru where your trek ends. Here onward you will take a side trip to Chandra tal lake, A crescent shape dark blue lake is located in front of magnificent snow caped mountains range looks like an imaginary fairy land. At the end drive back to Manali with sweet memories of your adventure trip.

Day 1 - Arrive Manali

Day 2: Manali to Jobri Drive & Trek to Chikka

Day 3: Chhika to Balu Gyra (3300m) 5 hrs

Day 4: Balu Gyra to Shea Gahru (3700 mtrs) over Hamta pass (4200m) 6-7 hrs

Day 5: Shea Gahru to Chhatru Trek (3360m),2-3hrs trek, & Drive to Chandratal lake

Day 6: Chandartal to Manali, 110 kms (1950m) 5-6h.

Day 7 - Free day & Drop at Volvo stand


Day 1: Arrive Manali

Arrive Manali & Rest. Acclimatization day: Visit Manu Temple, Hadimba Temple, Mall road & Monastery by walk. return to hotel by foot for the night & the stay 

Day 2: Manali to Jobri Drive & Trek to Chikka (3000m)
After breakfast and briefing drive to the starting point of the trek Jobri Nallah (1h30mnt). Zig-Zag drive high over the Manali give awesome view of the surrounding Himalaya and entire valley. Reach Khangpa village of Saten, who have migrated from Spiti (Tibet in the olden time).

Continue drive by gravel road till the road end and the adventure start from here onward. Follow the flat and easy trail amidst the forest and meadows for one and half hrs. After crossing the forest valley open up where camp site is set at scenic surrounding. Night in camp


Day 3 : Chhika to Balu Gyra (3300 mtrs) 5-6 hrs.
The trail begins by easy and slightly uphill walking across the pasture land, paved by the grass and stone slabs, you will notice abundance of wild flowers around you including Rhododendron bushes in full bloom (sub. to season). At some places the bank sloping down to the roaring river from the high cliffs. There are challenges of chilled streams to be crossed under the super vision of our expert guide / team leaders which is the part of your adventure holidays. (you are advised to carry sneakers to cross the stream which protect your feet from cold and save hurting by sharp piece of gravel / rock). Continue gradual ascend to the breath-taking alpine site of Balu Gyera at the beneath of Hamta pass. Night in camp.

Day 4: Balu Gyra to Shea Gahru (3700 mtrs) over Hamta pass (4200 mtrs) 6/7hrs.
As its long day to cross over pass therefore early start is advised. When its early season you will walk over compact snow (possibility of fresh snow in case of bad weather, hence required to take gaiter) and summer is carpeted by wild flowers fields. Ascends gradually by zig- Zag trail through boulder and stony path till top of mighty Hamta pass. Distant valley of Lahoul/Spiti comes in the view. From the pass one can enjoy the view of magnificent Himalayan peaks like Deo Tibba, Indra Asan and Indra Kila elevating above glacier field. Slowly landscape change from lush green valley of Kullu to the rugged terrain of Lahoul / Spiti. 

Now descend for about an hour (by Zig-zag track or snowy slope in early season) to Shea Gahru camp site set not far from the foot of glacier which blows chilled wind and minimise the night temperature. Night in camp.  

Day 5: Shea Gahru to Chhatru Trek (3360m),2-3hrs trek, & Drive to Chandratal lake
The trail descends following the chilled mountain stream (you may cross it or not depend on the temporary bridge if build over or not). Soon the Chandra river is in view, after 2-3 hours of trek reach the beautiful campsite of Chhatru at the road head between Manali- Spiti. Take your lunch and further drive to Chandra tal offers you a wonderful view of Chandra valley amidst magnificent mountain ranges (C.B. and Barashigari ranges) either side, Fascinating hanging glaciers and sheer rocks formations are awesome. Reached to the crescent shaped dark blue lake side located Infront of magnificent snow caped mountains range. In spite of rugged and inhospitable surrounding terrain it’s a summer niche to the shepherds. After enjoying the time at this imaginary fairy land, drive back to the camp site by same way. Enjoy last night of your holiday with your co-voyagers. Night in camp.

Day 6:Chandartal to Manali, 110 kms (1950m) 5-6h.
Morning drive back to Manali over Rohtang pass (3950m) or via Atal Tunnel, with the company of awesome landscape, cascading waterfalls and sweet memories of your adventure trip, drop at Himalayan Frontiers camp site or at the centre of town to make your onward journey convenient. 

Day 7 - Free day & Drop at Volvo stand

Its free day in the morning, checkout from your hotel and be free to explore Manali on your own. Our service will be to drop you at Bus stand Manali for overnight bus.


Note: Please be sure that your insurance covers your all expenses in high altitude as of ground or air rescue during your trek in case of accident, altitude sickness,  if helicopter required: We request you to provide Himalayan Frontiers the Insurance number, policy number, 24 hours emergency contact of insurance, persons in your family to be contacted if need be.

    By air: Bhuntar at the distance of 50 kms from Manali, taxi can be booked on arrival and local bus station is at proximity of airport.  please note that by bus 1h30 to 2 hours of journey.

    By Road: Manali is well connected to Delhi.  Overnight Volvo buses are run by Himachal road ways transport, Himachal tourism and private tour operators. Online booking facilities are available to book the tickets for the choice of your date.

    Arrival time of buses at Manali is between 8-9 am. Hence reporting time at designated place is 10 am. 

    Briefing of trip will start on 10 am on day of arrival, every participant is requested to be on time. Those missing the briefing will be not repeated for those late arrival. 

    Those who could not reach timely on reporting day will be considered no show. No show of participant will enforce Himalayan Frontiers to either postponed the trip (if seat and trip available) or cancel their booking. Those who considered non- shown please consult the terms and condition policies applied by company. To avoid such inconvenience, we advise each participant to reach Manali a day earlier the trek start and be on time to avoid delay of trek start.

     Above mentioned items should preferably be packed in a rucksack that is easier to carry. Please do handle the plastic/polythene bags and don’t carry any disposable items, ornaments and other valuables.

    All booking for the tours/treks is made with Himalayan Frontiers, herein after referred to as ‘the company’ and are subject to the conditions:

    the person signing the booking form accepts the conditions and is hereafter referred to as the client.

    The Company cannot be made liable for the consequences of weather condition, flight cancellations, war or threat of civil war, strikes, industrial action, political unrest or any other force majeure, unusual or unforeseen circumstance. The company reserves the right to use alternate transport, or vary the itinerary if breakdown, sickness or any other force major. Any additional that result, such as extra hotel accommodation, flight or road transport will be on your charge and must be paid directly at the spot.

    Please understand, there are certain hazards involved in your adventurous and culture holidays which you must accept at your own risk. The company will not be liable for any illness major or minor injury, death sustained during neither the trip, nor it will be liable for any uninsured losses of your property and other losses during the trip.

    This is mandatory for all clients travelling on any tour/ trek or independent itinerary arranged by us. You are responsible for obtaining adequate insurance covering expenses of unexpected as mentioned in liability paragraph. the loss of baggage, medical expenses, helicopter (air or ground) rescue, injury, death, repatriation, cancellation and curtailment of the itinerary.

     

    *It is strongly advised that clients take out insurance to cover the unexpected and cancellation charges.

     

    No refund will be made for any unused services included in the tour / trek cost. No refund will be payable to any client who voluntarily or obliged to leaves a trip enroute, clients are responsible to bare their own expenses, expenses of such as escort, transport, hotels and other related services occurred due to such circumstances.


    For foreign nation participants additional charges will be add on to buy the foreign currency, (hence buying the currency charges has to be borne by clients) bank transfer (wire transfer) charges and other administrative paperwork to be completed which is quite long exhausted process, we request you to understand and co-operate with. We will do our best possible to deal such cases respecting the present circumstances.

    Client agree to accept the authority and the decision of the tour/ trek leader or escort appointed by the company whilst on tour with the company. If in the opinion of the tour/ trek leader, any client’s behaviour is detrimental to the safety, welfare or harmonious state of the group as a whole, the client may be asked to leave the tour / trek without any right of refund and all extra expenses caused will be on his/her charge.

    The organisers or any individual connected with the camp shall not be held responsible of any accident or any unforeseen natural calamity

    Last moment changes on programme will not be acceptable. Final decision on any dispute will be taken by HIMALAYAN FRONTIERS Pvt. Ltd. only.

    Participants are not allowed to go out of campsite without permission of Himalayan Frontier authorities.

    Participants are expected to be in discipline. One can be dismissed from the programme/camp who found to be misbehaving with any individual or staff members, without prior notice.

    Remember there are certain challenges in your adventure holidays, during the trek you may encounter bad weather, your co-trekkers may injure or tired, you should not hesitate to give hand to those who are seeking for help. 

    You will encounter mountain stream which has to be cross by human chain or by other relevant method under supervision of our expert and experienced tour guide / trek leader. Every participant is advised to follow their instruction to the safety and welfare of everyone. Remember that every hazardous situation can be successfully dealt when we work in team, so please keep the team spirit alive at every instant.


    Note: Multiuse light Plastic sneakers or shoes which can be easily dry are advised to carry to cross the mountain streams and also can use as camp shoes.

    Himalayan Frontiers is very sensible about environments concern. This is our extreme responsibility together to take serious care of our surrounding. If we expect / appreciate to travel in trash free zone, it’s very important to let the zone trash free to others. We request every participant to not litter any single wrapper, any items of non-biodegradable, such items should be brought back to the camp site everyday and dispose at the dust bin of camp or the best will be to bring down to Manali at the Himalayan Frontiers camp site, hand over to the team members on arrival who will further care of it very responsibly. Contribution of each participant to this initiative will be highly appreciated.

    40% of total programme cost should be deposited in advance for booking.

     

    Balance payment should be made at least 7 days before the tour begins.

     

    The amount paid once is not transferable to any other programme /tour or to any other individual(s)/group or for any other service.

     

    No refund shall be made if participant(s) drop/terminate from program at any point due to any reason.

     

    One has to take care of his/her individual luggage. In case of loss or damage customer himself will be responsible for the same.

     

    The organizers or any individual connected with the tour shall not be held responsible of any accident or any unforeseen natural calamity.
