Kongyatse
west 6200m: Stand high in the popular trekking route of Markha valley. Climbers
don’t require serious mountaineering skill. An experienced trekker of
high-altitude terrain can participate the expedition with his endurance and
determination.
Route to
summit goes over scree, moraine patches and further to ice / snow line that
leads toward the summit. Route is gradual but required be rope up for the
safety precaution. One can witness the extensive view of surrounding
Himalaya including distant Karakoram in the north.
We combined the peak climbing with trek which allows the climbers to get
well acclimatise, trekking itself in the Valley of Markha is very popular for a
very good reason as landscapes are varied and the villages of mountain are
protected and magnificent. The hike begins from Chilling through isolated
villages and oasis of valley dominated by the snowy tops, in particular that of
Kang Yatse (6400 m) and Kongyatse west (6200m) the ascent of which you will
attempt is Kongyatse west. At the end of expedition Kongmarula pass elevating
5,150 m will allow you to region the Indus valley where you will visit some of
known monasteries before heading to Leh.
This combination of trekking and climbing the six thousand metres peak
allows you to discover a part of Ladakh in all its magnificence and its
authenticity. Colours and contrasts are incredible, you feel that you are
walking on another planet.
Day1: Delhi - Leh (3500 m), 1h 30 min by flight -
Day 2: Leh –Stok - Thiksey-Shey –Leh.
Day 3: Leh - Chilling - Skiu (3850 m) 4h30, trek 1
Day 4: Skiu - Markha, (3710 m), 7h walk - TREK 2
Day 5: Markha - Tchatchutse (3750 m), 5h walk - TREK 3
Day 6: Tchatchutse - Base du Kang yatse (5040 m), 5h walk - TREK 4
Day 7: Kang Yatse expedition (6400 m) - Nimaling (4700 m) - TREK 5 + Expedition

Day 11: Leh – Delhi and departure
Day 1: Delhi - Leh (3500 m), 1h 30min by flight –
Take your flight to Leh, on board enjoy the view of majestic Himalayas. You will be landing at 3500m from the sea level. On arrival at Leh airport our representative will transfer you to the hotel. To get acclimatized, you will relax till the mid-day and leave for excursion after the lunch in the hotel. Walk to Shanti Stupa dominate the Leh town, Royal Palace built by 5th Dalailama in 17th century which looks like a little Potala of Lahasa. Stroll in the Bazzar and night in the hotel.
Day 2: Leh –Stok - Thiksey-Shey –Leh.
After early breakfast leave to Stock to get the better sun rise for photography. Visit the palace and village. Also visit the Museum in palace which houses valuable antique objects. We will stroll from village to village to meet the people and to see their daily activities.
Visit monastery of Thiksey, A majestic monastery perched on a rocky outcrop built in the 15th century during the first wave of expansion of Gelugpa sect in Ladakh. There are paintings of protective deities and the great masters of the sect at the entrance.
Shey, once the capital of Upper Ladakh has a monastery which housing rich murals painting, well restored and represent the 18 arhats (disciples of Buddha who attained enlightenment), back to Leh, night in a hotel.
Day 3: Leh - Chilling -Skiu. Skiu (3850) 4h30, Trek-1
Drive towards Chilling following the Indus river till the confluence of Indus and Zanskar river. Take u turn to entre in the Zanskar valley following the opposite flow of Zanskar river till Chilling. This village is famous for its silver-smiths who work quite typically on metal to make necessary utensils such as teapots and jars of Chhang pots etc.
Cross the river by Tyrolean gives an excellent experience. Then we take an easy path until Skiu following the Markha river for about 4 hours till Skiu where a beautiful ground serves us as campsite . night in camp.
Day 4: Skiu - Markha, (3710 m), 7h walk – TREK- 2
The day begins on the right bank of Markha river: attractive path with a lot of vegetation/ wood. After several successive crossings of left bank and right bank lead us to Chaluk (few houses). new traverses that flow before it, reaches after a short steep climb the beautiful village of Markha. We set up camp near the river. Visit village and old monastery. Night in camp.
Day 5: Markha - Tchatchutse (3750 m), 5h walk – TREK- 3
The track goes back up the main valley, the right bank. The path is sometimes difficult in the bed of the river. Before arriving at the village of Hankar, we visit the monastery Humlung, along the river. Little beyond Hankar, we abandon a wide valley on our right. We take a narrow valley going up higher and which obliges us to cross a bridge to the left bank to reach the pasture of Tchatchutse. Here we install our camp. Night in camp.
Day 6: Tchatchutse - Base of Kang yatse (5040 m), 5h walk – TREK- 6
The path rises very gradually, the river being rather far in our left. We continue near a small lake, then cross the pastures where herds of the yaks can be seen quite often. It is one of the most beautiful high valleys of Ladakh. Our camp will be fixed at the feet of the summit. In the evening, we stroll till 5,400 m height to acclimatize our self. Night in camp.
Day 7: Attempt to Kang Yatse west shoulder (6200 m) - Nimaling (4700 m) – TREK- 5 + Climbing.
Departure between 2 am and 4 am in the morning. 6 /8 hours of ascent are approximately needed to reach the summit, easily accessible by a snowy but a little bit technical slope. Rock may appear at the end of season. ( in autumn) After this extraordinary expedition day, we will return to the camp site of Nimaling.
Those who are not interested in the ascent will walk on the beautiful meadow of Nimaling to discover the sheepfolds of high altitude. Night in camp.
Day 8: Security day – TREK 6
This day is proposed as security day in case of failure of attempt due to bad weather. If the attempted is made as scheduled on day 11th of itinerary, in that case you will spend day at Nimaling to explore the area Or will cut short the day 12th distance. Night in camp.
Day 9: Nimaling - Shang via Konmaru La pass(5 150 m), 7/8h walk - TREK 7
2 hours of gradual track to reach the pass, Back drop is stunning view of Kongyatse which will remind you the route you have taken till summit, in front is panoramic view on the Indu valley and distant mountain range of Zanskar and Karakoram. We continue by a stiff zigzag descent on the north - east other of Kongmaru La. The trail crosses the magnificent multicolour river bed, at certain places trail is not easy for horses/ Mule. After several crossings of river, arrived at Shang a beautiful camp site near by monastery complex or near river bed. We can visit a small gompa not far from the village. Night in camp.
Day 10: Shang - Leh, via Hemis 60 Km - 2h
Vehicles join us in the morning and departure for Leh. En route visit Hemis monastery. A mass of splendid architecture on a green hill has been built by the inveterate royal architect Singe Namgyal in1630. The monastery belongs to Drukpa sect of Buddhism, site is privileged for Namgyal dynasty, its mural paintings represent the different divinities dated back to 18th sanctuary. There is a huge Thanka reputed to be the Largest in its existence, which is exhibited once in every twelve years. Afternoon will be free at Leh and Night in a hotel.
Day 11: Flight Leh-Dehli and departure
Transfer to airport, flight to Delhi. End of services.

Video and still camera fee where applicable, sleeping bag, personal clothing’s, personal climbing equipment’s, (budget to renting personal climbing equipment in Leh is around 7500rs.) any expenses if occur due to unforeseen circumstances such as to delay or cancelation of flights, weather condition, land slide, political unrest, sickness or any other circumstances beyond our control, refund to unused services. Single room/ tents surcharge and personal porters to carry the day bag.
By air: There are daily flight to Leh from Delhi, on arrival our representative will pick you up and will drop at respected hotel.
Briefing of the trip: Briefing of trip will start after lunch on day of arrival, every participant is requested to be on time. Those missing the briefing will be not repeated for those late arrival. Afternoon you will take acclimatization walk to Shanti Stupa and Leh palace.
Those who could not reach till evening on reporting day will be considered no show. No show of participant will enforce Himalayan Frontiers to either postponed the trip (if seat and trip available) or cancel their booking. Those who considered non- shown please consult the terms and condition policies applied by company.
To book an expedition/ trek / tour complete and sign the booking form and post or mail to the company with your deposit of 30% of the total amount by bank transfer or by payment Online through the site: www.himalayanfrontiers.com. Acceptance of the clients booking will be confirmed in written. The balance is to be paid 30 days before the scheduled departure.
All the cancellation must be in written and signed by the
person who signed the booking form and will be effective from the date of the
reception by the company.
30 days or more before departure: The agency will refund the entire paid amount to his client deducting the registration fee (INR 3000rs per persons or equivalent in other currency), GST paid at the time of booking and bank charges subject to the bank policies.
29 to15 Days before departure: The agency will
refund the 50% of paid amount to his client deducting the registration fee (INR
3000rs per persons or equivalent in other currency), GST paid at the time of
booking and bank charges subject to the bank policies.
Less than 14 days before departure: The agency will
be obliged to withhold the full amount of the deposit paid by the customer. In
this case, the customer must inform their insurance as soon as possible and
provide as much documentation to support the cancellation of trip. It is
therefore strongly advised to take out cancellation insurance to cover such
expenses.
Those who cancel their trip, following the terms and
conditions norms as per the time period we will refund the advance or full
payment made to book the trip by deducting the applicable taxes as of GST, bank
charges, file charges and other applicable taxes and charges. For foreign
client’s differences of currency buying has to be borne as per the present
exchange rates.
For foreign nation participants additional charges will be add on to buy the foreign currency, (hence buying the currency charges has to be borne by clients) bank transfer (wire transfer) charges and other administrative paperwork to be completed which is quite long exhausted process, we request you to understand and co-operate with. We will do our best possible to deal such cases respecting the present circumstances.
The Company cannot be made liable for the consequences of
weather condition, cancellations of flight / train or bus, war or threat of
civil war, strikes, industrial action, political unrest or any other force
majeure, unusual or unforeseen circumstance. The company reserves the right to
use alternate transport, or vary the itinerary if breakdown, sickness or any
other force major. Any additional that result, such as extra hotel
accommodation, flight or road transport will be on your charge and must be paid
directly at the spot.
Please understand, there are certain hazards involved in
your adventurous holidays which you must accept at your own risk. The company
will not be liable for any illness major or minor injury, death sustained during
neither the trip, nor it will be liable for any uninsured losses of your
property and other losses during the trip.
It is strongly advised that clients take out insurance to
cover the unexpected and cancellation charges.
This is mandatory for all clients
travelling on any tour/ trek / expedition or independent itinerary arranged by
us. You are responsible for obtaining adequate insurance covering expenses of
unexpected / unforeseen circumstances as mentioned in liability paragraph, such
loss or damage of baggage, medical expenses, war or threat of
civil war, strikes, industrial action, political unrest or any other force
majeure, unusual or unforeseen circumstance,
helicopter (air or ground) rescue, injury, death, repatriation, cancellation
and curtailment of the itinerary.
