One third of the trek is less frequent with its vast valleys; by this trek you will explore the Chang-Thang, which literally means “the high altitude plateau”; it is the home of the Nomads (Changpas) which can be reached by passing through several passes. A small village of Tukche is the nomads headquarter with its huge salt water lake of Tsokar. The Tibetan wild ass and the occasionally visible snow leopard are found here. Rare and exotic birds are also found on the lake. Now trail leads towards the Kharnak Rupshu valley by traversing the Manali—Leh high way, one can meet some Nomads living mostly in the tiny hamlets or in well-formed tents. Further you will join the most famous trekking route of Ladakh, “Markha valley”. The trek ends at Shang; you will be transferred to Leh by visiting the famous monasteries of Hemis, Thiksey and Shey; dropping at yours hotel, end of service.

Day 1: Arrival at Delhi
Reception at the airport, transfer to the hotel, overnight at the hotel.
Day 2: Delhi—Leh (3500 m)
Transfer to domestic airport, flight to Leh. Transfer to hotel, afternoon visit the monastery in the town, Shanti Stupa and old fort of Leh, overnight at the hotel.
Day 3: Leh to Rumtse (4040 m), 75 km
Leave early, on the way visit Shey, Thiksey and Hemis monasteries, further drive to the campsite.
Day 4: Rumtse to Kyamar (4050 m), 5 hours; Trek 1
The first day of trek, easy trail leads to a beautiful campsite close to the spring.
Day 5: Kyamar to Tisaling (4200 m), over Kumarla and Mandachandla; 6 to 7 Hours; Trek 2
As it is a long day so an early start is advised, the trail goes up following the river, gradual ascent to Kumurla (4900m), enjoy the spectacular view on Chang-Thang range. Then a steady descend to the river bank, wade through river and again ascent to the next pass Mandachandla. Now an easy descends towards the campsite on pasture land of Tisaling.
Day 6: Tisaling to Tukje (4267 m) via Shibuk over Shibukla (4980 m), 6 to 7 Hours; Trek 3
Two hours trek till the pass, again a spectacular view of the surrounding Himalayas, descend to Shibuk, where Marmot can be seen playing hide and seek. Now an easy flat track on the large valley to the nomad headquarters at Tukche. On arrival at Tukche, establish the camp, later visit the village and a small Gompa perched high on top of the village. Stroll on the shore of lake to watch the birds; the lake changing its color frequently while sun set.
Day 7: Tsokar to Spangchen (4580 m), 5hours 30 minutes; Trek 4
One and a half hour dusty trail till the main road of Manali—Leh highway, half an hour on the main road, take diversion for 2 hours to the valley of Kharanak Rupshu; campsite near the spring.
Day 8: Spangchen to Lungmotche (4550 m), 5 hours; Trek 5
Easy trail till Kharanak village of nomads, after a while divert to Lungmotche towards Yarla, campsite at the foot of Yarla.
Day 9: Lungmotse to Datt (4200 m) over Yarla (4950 m), 8 hours; Trek 6
It is the longest day of the trek. While crossing the pass, one can see the Kyang (wild donkey). In Datt you will visit the old monastery and the village which itself is very beautiful to visit.
Day 10: Datt to Sora (4600 m), 5 hours; Trek 7
Walking through the beautiful gorge, willow trees can be seen along the trail; crossing the crystal clear water streams. Fishing is strictly prohibited by the Buddhist law; on the right side of the trail, one can see the ruins of an old castle of the king of the valley. Camp site of Sora is surrounded by the mountains and barley fields.
Day 11: Sora to Langthangchhu (4500 m), 5 hours 30 minutes, over Zalung Karpola (5197 m); Trek 8
Little hard until the pass, but all around is the amazing views of several Mountain Ranges; descend through the rocky and dusty path to the camp site.
Day 12: Langthang Chhu to Nimaling (foot of Kongyatse west) (4900 m) 5 hours 30 Minutes; Trek 9
Gradual ascent in beginning and then a steep climb to the pass for 4 hours, then an easy trail to the plateau at the base of the Kongyatse west (6200 m), you can see the herds of yak, sheep and goat grazing here and there at this place.
Day 13: Nimaling to Shang (3980 m), 8 hours over Kongmarula (5150 m); Trek 10
Two hours of gradual climbing to the pass; while descending, the trail goes through many villages and the colorful rocky gorge. In Shang, visit the monastery; overnight at the camp.
Day 14: Shang—Hemis to Leh (3500 m)
Drive to Leh, drop at your hotel, end of service. On the way visit the following monasteries via Hemis situated 48 km from the Leh on the opposite side of the Singee Tsangpo river (Indus). It is the largest and most famous monastery in Ladakh. It has been founded about 350 years ago by Stagsang Reschen who was invited to Ladakh by the King Singee Namgyal, another monasteries of Thiksey and Shey will also be visited.
DAY 15: Leh—Delhi flight
Transfer to the domestic airport, flight to Delhi. Transfer from airport to the hotel, afternoon at leisure, overnight at the hotel.
Day 16: Departure
Visit old or New Delhi (full day sightseeing). Evening transfer to International airport for flight to onward destination.
