Trekking
Jun – Oct
One third of the trek is less frequent with its vast valleys; by this trek you will explore the Chang-Thang, which literally means âthe high altitude plateauâ; it is the home of the Nomads (Changpas) which can be reached by passing through several passes. A small village of Tukche is the nomads headquarter with its huge salt water lake of Tsokar. The Tibetan wild ass and the occasionally visible snow leopard are found here. Rare and exotic birds are also found on the lake. Now trail leads towards the Kharnak Rupshu valley by traversing the ManaliâLeh high way, one can meet some Nomads living mostly in the tiny hamlets or in well-formed tents. Further you will join the most famous trekking route of Ladakh, âMarkha valleyâ. The trek ends at Shang; you will be transferred to Leh by visiting the famous monasteries of Hemis, Thiksey and Shey; dropping at yours hotel, end of service.
