Cycling On The World Highest Road

Cycling from Manali to Leh on one of the most highest and spectacular road of the world is a challenging ride. You will be riding over six passes, Lowest among them is Rohtang pass (3950 m) and highest is Khardungala (5560 m). Looping up and down from one pass to other and from deep valleys to the large high altitude plateau of Ladakh “The roof of the world”.

During the trip you will be noticing dramatic changes of climate and culture, South is lavishly green where Hinduism is flourished, whereas north is arid here Tibetan Budhism is practicing since centuries. Large part of the trip is dry and harsh but is extensive and magnificent.

DAY 04: Manali to Marhi-39 Km 3320 mtrs.night at camp. (Uphill road) MTB

DAY 05: Marhi to Gondla (41 km) 3160m, over Rohtang pass 3950,

DAY 06: Gondla to Jispa (Darcha) (50 km) 3400 m., (Flat and Gradual road) MTB

DAY 07: Jispa to Bharat pur (55 km) 4400m. over Baralachla 4800 mtrs).

DAY 08: Bharatpur to Whiskey bridge “(65 km) 3950 m.) (Flat road) MTB

DAY 09: whiskey bridge to Pang” over Namkila pass 4950 m and Lachlangla à ƒ 5090 m

DAY 10: Pang to Baseof Tanglangla (Debring) (54 km) 4 500 m

DAY 11: Base of Tanglangla to Rumtse (48 km, 4320 m)

DAY 12: Rumtse to Leh. (90 km) 3400 mtrs. (Flat road) MTB

DAY 13: Leh – Khardungla-(5540 m) 39 kms one way.

DAY 14: Explore Leh, O/N in hotel. End of MTB

DAY 15: Leh-Delhi flight

DAY 16: Departure


DAY 01: Arrival Delhi,

On arrival at IGIA (Indira Gandhi International Airport) you will be met by our representative and will escort you to the hotel, overnight at hotel in Delhi.

DAY 02: Delhi to Manali,

2000 Mtrs, 570 kms, 16 hours by Mini bus, 14 hours by Jeep. Early morning at 5 am Check out, breakfast on the way, Passing through most fertile states of North India (Haryana – Punjab) Afternoon lunch stop while entering in Himachal Pradesh is a mountainous state of India, By evening reach Manali, overnight at hotel in Manali.

DAY 03: In and Around Manali, O/N in hotel, (Introduction on Indian Road) MTB

After breakfast Motor bike will be provided to each individual and you will explore Manali and its surrounding with local guide. Visit Nagar castle, Roerich art gallery, Hindu Temple’s and hot spring at Vashisht, after the sightseeing return back to hotel for overnight stay.

DAY 04: Manali to Marhi-39 Km 3320 mtrs. night at camp. (Uphill road) MTB

First day of expedition, up hill ride by curved road through villages and forest.

DAY 05: Marhi to Gondla (41 km) 3160m, over Rohtang pass 3950, (Up and down hill road) MTB

13 kms uphill road till Rohtang pass, Having spectacle view of snow caped mountains of Himalaya. Down hill to Gramphu, passport will be checked at Khokasar the first village of tribal district of Lahoul and spiti, easy road to Gondla, overnight stay at camp in Gondla.

DAY 06: Gondla to Jispa (Darcha) (50 km) 3400 m., (Flat and Gradual road) MTB

on the way visit keylong, the district headquarter, most of time flat scenic road, overnight stay at camp in Jispa (Darcha).

DAY 07: Jispa to Bharat pur (55 km) 4400m. over Baralachla 4800 mtrs) (Flat and Zig-Zag uphill road) MTB.

Gradual and Up hill ride for about 32 kms till Baralachala, long descend till Beautiful campsite, overnight stay in Bharatpur.

DAY 08: Bharatpur to Whiskey bridge “(65 km) 3 950 m.) (Flat road) MTB

Road goes through vast plateau of Sarchu, Border of two states Jamu- Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, later ride till the next camp site accompanied by Tsarap River.

DAY 09: whiskey bridge to Pang” over Namkila pass 4950 m and Lachlangla à ƒ 5 090 m

(44 km) 4 630 m. (Gradual uphill and down hill road) MTB Long climb by Snake curved road till first pass and than short descend of 3 kms, again 3 kms climb to Lachulangla and long descend to pang by the gorge of Ganglajal. campsite beside the stream before check post.

DAY 10: Pang to Base of Tanglangla (Debring) (54 km) 4500 m.

(Gradual and flat road) MTB Short easy climb for 5to 7 kms, enjoy the magnificent view of Zara chu (stream) with canyon erected both side in different shape and mirages on the large Qyangchuthang (wild donkey ground)., Rest all is flat ride in Pang plateau.till campsite.

DAY 11: Base of Tanglangla to Rumtse (48 km, 4320 m)

over Tanglangla (5332 m.) (Gradual and down hill road) MTB. 23 kms gradual climb to the top of world the second highest motor able pass Tanglangla, after long descend to the Indus valley, a series of Chhorten will lead you to the Rumtse the first village of Ladakh, campsite beside the stream on the meadow .

DAY 12: Rumtse to Leh. (90 km) 3400 mtrs. (Flat road) MTB

Easy ride through Ladakhi villages, on the way visit shey and Thiksey monasteries, by afternoon reach Leh , the capital of Ladakh O/N in the hotel.

Day 13: Leh – Khardungla-(5540 m) 39 kms one way.

Back to Leh (steep hill climb) MTB. Most exciting day, steep road , half of the stretch is mettled and half is Rough. Reaching on the top of highest road of the world is a thrill, having extensive view from the top and same way descend to Leh,

DAY 14: Explore Leh, O/N in hotel. End of MTB

Visit Shanti stupa and old fort of Leh., monastery in the town,. Afternoon pack up the mountain bike rest time at leisure, O/N in hotel.

DAY 15: Leh-Delhi flight,

Transfer to the domestic airport, flight to Delhi..Transfer from airport to the hotel. Visit old or new Delhi (Full day sightseeing), evening transfer to IGIA to board flight for onward destination. O/N in hotel.

DAY 16: Departure

Transfer to airport to board flight for onward destination.

    All the cancellation must be in written and signed by the person who signed the booking form and will be effective from the date of the reception by the company. 1: 60 days or more before departure: The agency will refund the entire paid amount to his client deducting the registration fee (€ 40 per persons or equivalent in other currency), bank charges subject to the bank policies, when booking domestic flights, the Cancellation fee subject to airline policies at present or if the tickets are non- refundable in that case the full amount of the ticket will be retained. The hotels are reserved and must be paid in advance; the company will apply the cancellation policies of hotels. Cancelation charge for train tickets and other ground transport and related services if needed to be booked in advance. Hence the remaining amount will be refunded after deducting all above cancelation policies applied for different services. 2: 40 Days before departure: The agency will refund the 50% of paid amount to his client deducting the registration fee (€ 40 per persons or equivalent in other currency), bank charges subject to the bank policies, when booking domestic flights, the Cancellation fee subject to airline policies at present or if the tickets are non- refundable in that case the full amount of the ticket will be retained. In this case, the customer must inform their insurance as soon as possible and provide as much documentation to support the cancellation of trip. It is therefore strongly advised to take out cancellation insurance to cover such expenses.
    Itinerary / hotels are sub. to change in case of strike, civil war threat, you may be will lose expected places you have prepared for but will explore unexpected and for sure will not disappointed. In case of back up vehicle break down another mode of transport will be managed at the earliest possible, In that case you are requested to keep patience and co-operate with the situation, while travelling to rural and isolated area replacing vehicle can take time due to lac of communication or distance to pass the message with the other vehicle those who are driving toward the nearest town or the place from where one can have telephone facilities. Or from where one can be connected by Mobile phone. Also you can be transferred by the other type of vehicle what ever is available at the moment as of local bus till you will be not having the proper mode of transport.
    The Company cannot be made liable for the consequences of weather condition, flight cancellations, war or threat of civil war, strikes, industrial action, political unrest or any other force majeure, unusual or unforeseen circumstance. The company reserves the right to use alternate transport, or vary the itinerary if breakdown, sickness or any other force major. Any additional that result, such as extra hotel accommodation, flight or road transport will be on your charge and must be paid directly at the spot. Please understand, there are certain hazards involved in your adventurous and culture holidays which you must accept at your own risk. The company will not be liable for any illness major or minor injury, death sustained during neither the trip, nor it will be liable for any uninsured losses of your property and other losses during the trip. It is strongly advised that clients take out insurance to cover the unexpected and cancellation charges.
    Accommodation is based on 3 star category in Delhi, Neat and clean local standards of hotels will be provided in Manali and Leh. While riding you will be assisted by kitchen with with all necessary items including to men spacious tent, mattress, dining tents from 4 persons onward, toilet tents and all necessary items. Our chef will prepare verities of Indian, Chinese and Continental vegetarian and non vegetarian meals, Chefs on trek are used to cook for the western guest and pay their attention to dose the spice, Breakfast and dinner will be served at camp, lunch is always packed, Afternoon snacks is served with hot beverages as of tea and coffee Indian and partly Tibetan (Ladakhi) vegetarian meals is served, Non veg. is subject to availability. Indian recipes are bit on spicy side, Breakfast and dinner will be served at the hotel, Lunch packed or in local restaurant or in hotel sub. to the schedule.
    You will be accompanying by a backup vehicle to assist you throughout the tour, you will be carrying your own spare parts with necessary as per the brand of your cycle (bike). If you have special requirement of person accompanying you who wish to take comfortable journey time following your expedition, in that case extra vehicle can be arranged in advance sub. to the number of persons. Such vehicle will be air-conditioned, except in hilly area air-condition of any vehicle cannot be regularly used due to steep uphill drive, So you have to co-operate with. For the Autumns and spring season when temperature goes down, if you required heater except minibus each of those mentioned vehicle have the heating facilities and cannot be used while uphill drive.
    You will be crossing several high passes, different type of road condition will be encountered vary from wet and humid in lower altitude to dry and garble road in higher altitude of Lahoul and Ladakh. you may be will not have any options except crossing the icy rivulets. You can face land slide not only cause of rainfall but also by higher melting rate of Snow and Ice (glacier) due to perpetual summer heat. You can be blocked for hours, day or more, you may miss the places expected to visit or will visit the unexpected places, to regulate the situation the team at the spot will do the best possible at the moment. Road in India are being widen at so many states, So please don’t compare the driving time as estimated in developed nation.
