Patalsu peak at its height of 4220m, Is an easy peak, is reached by road to Solang and further uphill gradual and steep slopes are cut by zig-zag trail through dense forest till the large meadow of base camp open up which spread upward the peak. One doesn’t need previous climbing experience but endurance and effort is required.
Note: During early season peak can be found covered by snow which add bit more technical efforts to negotiate with compact snow to reach the top.
Day 1: Arrive Manali, Reporting at hotel.
Day 2: Manali - Solang drive, Trek to Shagadugh-3200m.-
Day 3: Day to Climb the Patalsu (4470m). 7-8 hrs.
Day 4: Shaga Dugh- Solang, drive to Manali.
Day 1: Arrival Manali. 2000m
Reporting at Hotel by afternoon. You will take a small hike as acclimatization walk to visit the Manu temple and old Manali village, Hadimba temple and town to buy the needful accessory.
By evening you will be briefed about the trip and introduced the equipment to be used for the climb. Night in hotel or in camp.
Day 2: Manali- Solang (2480m) (10km) – Shagadugh. (3200m) 5-6 hrs.
Drive to Solang Nallha (10km). Solang a popular destination for winter sports and is although must visited place round the year.
Leave the vehicle and start the trek to Solang village located opposite side of Beas River and is reached by crossing the temporary bridge over it.
Here onward gradual and zigzag forest walks for about 3 hrs will bring you above tree line till appear the large meadow of Shaga Dugh, Now Patalsu peak is in clear view, you can mark the route to attempt the summit. Night in camp.
Day 3: Day to Climb the Patalsu (4470m). 7-8 hrs.
As its going to be long day. You will start at 5 Am in the morning, carry your essential for the day including pack lunch and dry fruit + energy bars etc.
Easy gradual slope in beginning, later steady slope will be cut by Zig-zag traverse to ease the walk. During early season you may walk on compact or fresh snow which depend on present weather. You may use crampon if required or roped up for the safety of the climbers. Once on the top of the peak, you will have 360-degree view of the Himalaya and kullu valley, after enjoying the view which you gain by your physical and moral effort, you will be back by same route. night in camp.
Day 4: Shaga Dugh -34rs of trek, 12 kms drive to Manali.
Same way descends through forest to Solang village and further to the road head.
Here vehicle will pick you up and will drop at centre of Manali town to make your onward journey convenient. End of services.
