Yonam peak, located in Lahoul distt of Himachal pradesh. From Manali, drive through one of the most spectacular and the highest motorable road leads over Rohtang pass (3950m) crossing semi-desert region of Lahoul valley, ornamented by hanging glaciers and glistening emerald mountain lakes. Few kms after crossing the Baralachala (4800m) you will reach Bharatpur where base camp will be set nearby few seasonal stalls. Further route toward higher camp and summit feature boulders, rocks, scree and snowy patches. Crossing of some chilled steam cannot be avoided.
Peak is less frequented and less technical; participants are not required having climbing technical skill but previous trekking experience of high-altitude terrain and good physical condition is essential.
Day 1: Arrival in Manali (1960 m)
Day 2: Manali to Bharatpur -Base Camp 4500 m.- 170 km-5-6 hours of drive
Day 3: Acclimatization day.
Day 4 -Trek to establish camp 1 or Summit Camp 5300m-3h
Day 5: Acclimatization day.
Day 6: Yunam summit -6100m and back to summit camp
Day 7: Contingency day
Day 8: Summit camp to base camp. 2-3h trek-180 kms drive to Manali
Day 9: Departure:
Day 1: Arrival in Manali (1960m)
Arrive in the Morning between 10-11 am arrival in Manali, you will report at the designated hotel, your identity card will be collected to get the permit from local IMF office. Spend your time to refill the necessary items you may require, night in hotel.
Day 2: Manali to Bharatpur -Base Camp 4500 m.- 170 km-5-6 hours of drive
Exhilarating drive along Beas River, cool breeze refreshes the morning before entering the Tunnel which shorten the distance for around 46 kms. Getting out of tunnel you will notice dramatic change of landscape from the lush green valley of Kullu- Manali to the semi desert region of Lahoul. Follow the Chandra River passing by villages, farm land and hanging glacier which generate the cascading waterfall.
Drive all the way up to Barlachala pass (4850m). You will be reaching Bharatpur at around noon time. As you setup up your campsite at Bharatpur this day you will also practice a few of the climbing techniques like how to wear crampons, wearing shoes, ascend and descent techniques, fixing of ropes and carabiners and knot practicing.
Day 3: Acclimatization day.
Morning trek to higher camp or summit camp, climb high and sleep down is the best way of acclimatization. Day start with gradual and steep trail, through moraine and rocky route, at the places chilly mountain stream to cross (sub. to the season). Spend some time around the site and head back to the base camp.
Day 4 -Trek to establish camp1 or Summit Camp 5300m-3h
Take the same route and establish the summit camp. Afternoon briefing and preparation for next day. Take short hike around the camp to remain active for next day. Early dinner and relax. Night at summit camp.
Day 5: Acclimatization day.
Today we again follow the same procedure, to acclimatize we hike up toward the peak and spend some time and return back to camp 1/ summit camp for the night.
Day 6: Yunam summit -6100m and back to summit camp
Start early in the morning, Sub. to the season sharp rocks, moraine and snowy route leads to the summit. Peak is not technically difficult but still altitude play major role, in early season rope up may require to negotiate the snowy slope for safety precaution. Once at the summit enjoy the astonishing beauty of barren landscape and snow caped mountain of mighty Himalaya. Back to summit camp.
Day 7: Contingency day
In case of bad weather, we keep a day for second attempt, if all goes well, then we will take side trip to explore the surrounding of base camp or simply relax to recuperate the fatigue.
Day 8: Summit camp to base camp. 2-3h trek-180 kms drive to Manali
Leave early. Following the same way back. One need to be very careful while descending. Once at the road head drive back to Manali for next 7-8 hours. Night in hotel.
Day 9: Departure
Check out after breakfast, departure to your onward destination.

By
air: Bhuntar at the distance of 50 kms from
Manali, taxi can be booked on arrival and local bus station is at proximity of
airport. please note that by bus 1h30 to
2 hours of journey.
By road: Manali is well connected to
Delhi. Overnight Volvo buses are run by
Himachal road ways transport, Himachal tourism and private tour operators. Online
booking facilities are available to book the tickets for the choice of your
date.
Arrival
time of buses at Manali is between 10 to 11 am. Reporting time at designated
place is the 15h.
Briefing
of the trip: Briefing of trip will start afternoon
on day of arrival, every participant is requested to be on time. Those missing the briefing will be not
repeated for those late arrival.
Those who could not
reach till evening on reporting day will be considered no show. No show of
participant will enforce Himalayan Frontiers to either postponed the trip (if
seat and trip available) or cancel their booking. Those who considered non-
shown please consult the terms and condition policies applied by company.
To book an expedition complete and sign the booking
form and post or mail to the company with your deposit of 30% of the total
amount by bank transfer or by payment Online through the site:
www.himalayanfrontiers.com. Acceptance of the clients booking will be confirmed
in written. The balance is to be paid 30 days before the scheduled departure.
All the cancellation must be in written and
signed by the person who signed the booking form and will be effective from the
date of the reception by the company.
30 days or more before
departure: The agency will refund the entire paid amount to his client
deducting the registration fee (INR 3000rs per persons or equivalent in other
currency), GST paid at the time of booking and bank charges subject to the bank
policies.
29 to15 Days before departure: The agency
will refund the 50% of paid amount to his client deducting the registration fee
(INR 3000rs per persons or equivalent in other currency), GST paid at the time
of booking and bank charges subject to the bank policies.
Less than 14 days before departure: The
agency will be obliged to withhold the full amount of the deposit paid by the
customer. In this case, the customer must inform their insurance as soon as
possible and provide as much documentation to support the cancellation of trip.
It is therefore strongly advised to take out cancellation insurance to cover
such expenses.
Those who cancel their trip, following the
terms and conditions norms as per the time period we will refund the advance or
full payment made to book the trip by deducting the applicable taxes as of GST,
bank charges, file charges and other applicable taxes and charges. For foreign
client’s differences of currency buying has to be borne as per the present
exchange rates.
For foreign nation participants additional charges will be add on to buy the
foreign currency, (hence buying the currency charges has to be borne by
clients) bank transfer (wire transfer) charges and other administrative
paperwork to be completed which is quite long exhausted process, we request you
to understand and co-operate with. We will do our best possible to deal such
cases respecting the present circumstances
The Company cannot be made liable for the
consequences of weather condition, cancellations of flight / train or bus, war
or threat of civil war, strikes, industrial action, political unrest or any
other force majeure, unusual or unforeseen circumstance. The company reserves
the right to use alternate transport, or vary the itinerary if breakdown,
sickness or any other force major. Any additional that result, such as extra
hotel accommodation, flight or road transport will be on your charge and must
be paid directly at the spot.
Please understand, there are certain
hazards involved in your adventurous holidays which you must accept at your own
risk. The company will not be liable for any illness major or minor injury,
death sustained during neither the trip, nor it will be liable for any
uninsured losses of your property and other losses during the trip.
It is strongly advised that clients take
out insurance to cover the unexpected and cancellation charges.
This is mandatory for all clients travelling on any tour/ trek / expedition or independent itinerary arranged by us. You are responsible for obtaining adequate insurance covering expenses of unexpected / unforeseen circumstances as mentioned in liability paragraph, such loss or damage of baggage, medical expenses, war or threat of civil war, strikes, industrial action, political unrest or any other force majeure, unusual or unforeseen circumstance, helicopter (air or ground) rescue, injury, death, repatriation, cancellation and curtailment of the itinerary.
