Day 01: Arrival in New Delhi
Himalayan Frontiers representative will meet & greet you at the airport IGIA, (Indira Gandhi International Airport) and most flights arrive around midnight. Transfer with a private bus or taxi to your hotel.
Day 02: Delhi to Shimla (1900 m): Train: 10 hrs
Depart to Shimla by train; transfer to toy train in Kalka, with the assistance of our representative. On arrival, transfer to the hotel & greeting with our expedition’s team.
Day 03: Visit Shimla
After a quick rundown of road safety precautions, you will be introduced to your bikes before setting-off on a short ride around Shimla, once the summer capital of British Raj, today the state capital of Himachal Pradesh is most known hill stations for the vacation round the year. Visit Advance Study Hall, Himachal Museum, Jakhu Hanuman Temple and short ride to Naldehra.
Day 04: Shimla to Sarahan (1920 m): Drive: 190 km 7h
Depart to Sarahan and today you will ride through spectacular road by Kufri, Narkanda & Rampur where you may visit the Padama Palace of the Royal Kinnaur family. On arrival to Sarahan, transfer to the Hotel. Visit Bhimakali temple. The temple remains a site of animal sacrifices to the goddess Bhimakali although it was once a site of human sacrifices.
Day 05: Sarahan to Sangla (3450 m), Visit Chitkul: 140 km 6h
Depart to Sangla. Ride through the beautiful and remote region of Baspa valley following the immense Sutlej River, before arriving to destination. Check in Hotel in Sangla and after an hour drive to Indo-Tibetan border village of Chitkul at 24 kms. Drive back to the Hotel.
Day 06: Sangla-Nako 120 km/6h
After passing the kinnour valley, we ride further towards the restricted area of kinnaur. Here we have to show our inner line permit to enter further in valley and to a beautiful village Nako.
Day 07: Nako-Tabo 63 km /4 h
Today we have to cross the spring calls Maling Nallah where you will see that a vast area of mountain is sinking down, where few labours & a JCB kept for all the year to clear the Rocks that almost every day falls on road. Afterwards a nice road leads till Tabo.
Tabo: – the ancient monastery. This monastery has been founded in 996 A.D .This monastery has exquisite frescoes and stuco statues and is often called the Ajanta of the Himalayas. The largest monastic complex in the Spiti has 9 temples in old section, 23 chhorten, a monks and nuns chambers. There are several caves adorned with fine frescoes and contemporary structure too. In Trans Himalayas Buddhism, Tabo sanctity is next only to Tibet’s Tholing Monastery.
Day 08: Tabo to Kaza (3600 m)Dhankar, Lalung, Pin Valley:58 km 6h
Riding through a few Buddhist villages, we cover Pin valley National Park, Kungri, Lalung, Dankhar monastery and Evening in Kaza.
Dhankar the ancient capital of Spiti king, the most incredibly situated gompa, perched high on the barren rocky mountain slopes. As you progress, the whole Dhankar village opens up in front of you like something artificial crop up from nowhere. The sixth century Dhankar gompa, though not well preserved still has some magnificent original Thangkas and statues tucked away in dark rooms. You are advised to carry your flashlight to see some of the beautiful remaining murals. Unfortunately a part of the gompa was destroyed during the severe winter of 1989 and the repair work by local has led to the further destruction of these priceless murals.
Day 09: Kaza (3600m-46km) visit Key and Kibber (4200mtrs) 5h
Drive around kaza to Key Monastery, Kibber village, Koumic village (4500m) is the highest Village in Asia. is a beautiful gompa perched high on a pyramid like mountain, belongs to the Gelugpa sect of Tibetan Buddhism and monks practicing meditation and other monastic rituals. Its main temple, the Dhunkhang, has some of the best murals, well preserved statues and Thangkas depicting different life stories of Guru Padmasambhava, the founder of Gelug-Pa sect.
Day 10: Kaza – Chandertal 150 km/6 h
Ride through the beautiful village and over the Kunzum pass enjoying a breath taking Panorama of high snowcapped peak, Chandratal Lake and we follow the Chandra valley and cross some cold stream before the destination. Night in the camp.
Day 11: Chandertal -Manali 110 km/6 h
Depart to Manali. Ride down the Lahoul valley, Cross some of cold streams and drive up to Rohtang la pass, second highest of this excursion. Here you have to drive either in muddy road or in popular tourist traffic jam after crossing drive down magical carving road till Manali.
Day 12: Manali day break
This day is reserved for explore Manali; shopping, strolling around, relaxing or book a massage and perhaps for another short ride, in the area to Naggar, where we can also have lunch.
Day 13: Half day in Manali and return to Delhi by bus (16 h)
Farewell with the expeditions’ team. After Lunch depart by Volvo bus to Delhi.
Day 14: Departure from Delhi
Early morning arrival in Delhi, transfer to the Hotel (for day use). Our representative will be at your service. Possibility for some sightseeing in Delhi: Red Fort, Qutub Minar, India Gate etc., or shopping. Transfer to the IG International Airport.
